Lots of coverage this morning, off to buy the paper version of l'equipe as it's being quoted on loads of sites. The new Robert?

Am allowed to dream.

Just the mention of the name makes me think of much better days...

He even looks a bit like him.

Anyway, l'equipe are basically saying that L'OM need a new striker (fabiano) and need to get rid of players before they can bring one in. It's Ben Arfa's desire to play in England which will be decisive, meaning nothing is certain. However , they state we will agree or not for 800k loan fee this weekend.

If he comes to us and is decent, a better club with more money will snap him up come the end of the season.

If he comes to us and disappoints, he'll return to OM and end being shifted to some club in Germany or Spain.

Either way, if we were to get him on loan, I wouldn't expect to see him join us permanently at any time in the future.

Loan to buys do seem to fit in with the MA approach though, if hes shit, no money spent, if hes good no money spent and can perhaps retain a familiar player for a decent price with a lot less risk than bringing someone else in

either way I'll be delighted if this finally gets through officially

Newcastle has its preference from the beginning. And it is indeed among the Magpies qu'Hatem Ben Arfa should play this season. The French international midfielder could join England on Tuesday or Wednesday, as explained by Jean-Claude Dassier Canal + Saturday night. The loan fee of one year (800,000 euros) with option to purchase should be signed soon between the OM and Toons.

Benfica host Ben Arfa Hoffenheim wanted, which came during the game at the meeting OM-Caen played Saturday night.

Oh. My. Gawd. :scratchchin:

More stories on this bad boy :scratchchin: ...

Sounded side Hoffenheim these days, Hatem Ben Arfa should eventually leave Olympique Marseille for Newcastle and the Premier League. According to RMC, the English promoted asked 800,000 euros on the table to get the loan from the French winger for next season, while the main person refused an offer of twice winner of the championship of Russia, Rubin Kazan, estimated 7.5 million euros.

Manchester United are considering a move for Marseille winger Hatem Ben Arfa this summer. Sir Alex Ferguson is known to be an admirer of the 23 year old French international and has inquired about the player a few years back but is now ready to make a significant bid for the speedy flair player.

The Old Trafford boss is keen to add more creativity to his midfield and believes a new left winger may well be in order. He has seen how Nani has struggled to be consistent on the left and has in fact excelled when played on the right where the club already has Luis Antonio Valencia to play in that position.

Ben Arfa has been in great form for Marseille this season helping Didier Deschamps side to the domestic title to add to the four Ligue 1 crowns the youngster claimed whilst at Lyon and has made Raymond Domenech’s provisional World Cup squad.

The £18m rated wide man could well be ready for a new challenge and would surely jump at the chance of a move to the Premier League and has the ability to be a big hit having proven himself both at club and country level.

:scratchchin:

That was may btw.

If this comes off it will give us a good lift. Not that straightforward with a character like Ben Arfa and he will pose challenges to Hughton's management. He can be as good as Robert was on his day, if not quite the same player.

Am still not that confident of this coming off though, it is us afterall.
