Ex-mackem train claim

Free agent Benjamin Mwaruwari aka Benjani is reported to have been training with Newcastle in recent days, as he looks for a new club following his release by Man City.

The 31 year-old Zimbabwean striker who ended last season on loan at the stadium of plight has been linked with a number of top-flight clubs.

However the Mail newspaper speculate that the player's contract demands aren't likely to represent "value for money" for the Magpies and he'll not be retained.

Benjani was a Portsmouth player when he scored against Newcastle at SJP in November 2007 during their 4-1 win.

No thanks.

Could never understand how he came to be valued so highly so quickly and all despite his advanced age.

He had a purple patch at the start of 07-08, scored 12 I think. He only scored 17 or 19 for Portsmouth in 70 games at the club, so that tells you about his scoring rate apart from those few months.

Trash, always has been, I would like to think we wouldn't touch him.

I signed him on FM10 for our return to the Premiership. Which should tell you everything you need to know about how good I am at that game, and how well that return to the Premiership went. :icon_lol:

"The Benjani rumour is just wrong - he hasn't been training with us - and there is nothing in the Gary Hooper rumour either."

Thank the lord.
