Kevin 1
Tuesday saw United boss Chris Hughton in conversation with Toon fan Gabby Logan on Radio 5 during his lunch break. Here are some selected "highlights": On the Old Trafford opener: "There is the train of thought that we have to play them at some stage and we certainly have the knowledge that we were in the some position a couple of seasons and we were able to get there and get a good result." On lessons learnt from last season: "If we can get them together as a unit then we will see the qualities of the individuals and that is what got us through. We were able to create a very good spirit in the group...they all grew last season....." On transfers: "We have to be careful that we get value for money ...there will be money to be spend and I do expect players to come in before the start of the season." On his own position: "I regard it a privilege to take this team into the Premiership and it's a right that I've earned, but I understand that there are those who would have liked a more experienced or a bigger name manager to hold the fort." On the state of affairs @ SJP: "Stability - that's what we have at this moment. The next stage is for Newcastle to become a fixture in the Premier League." Kitman 2207
My guess is that because new transfers in are paid for up front, and old transfers in (paid by instalment) are now largely settled, there will be money coming in from our transfers out which are paid in instalments. This is the money CH is referring to, which he can add to through player sales.
