HDMI Cable -- No Signal

bought a samsung blu ray player to go with existing samsung lcd tv.

Already have a Humax box connected to the tv via hdmi, however when I connect the blu ray player all i get is the tv message "no signal" when I put in on the right hdmi channel source.

I can get the blu ray to work if i use the red, white and yellow av wires but they are not as good and unsightly.

Have checked the cable and know its fine.

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

Connect using the composite leads then go into setup on the blu-ray player - I'm guessing there will be a "video output" setting which should have HDMI.

the hdmi socket on the blu-ray drive might be buggered?

did ya try it on a different telly with hdmi?

No the sockets ok. It seems that this is a common problem with blu rays, xbox's ps3 etc judging by the number of search results on google. Find the cause is a bit trickier.

Some people suggesting the resolution the blue ray is giving out might not be able to be handled by the tv, however cant seem to find a way of changing output 1080, 720 etc.

Have tried this, however when you go into settings, quite a few of the options are greyed out!

I love / hate new technology.
