Only been to Glasgow once and that was in my seafaring days an' it had nowt to do with football. Two things I remember most was the pubs were shut doon on Sundays and the only place you could get a drink was in a hotel if you lied and said you were a travelling salesman. Me an' me mates said we were travellers in steel.

The high-light was been hoyed oot of a dance hall on a Sat'duh neet cos the two lads I was with had too many Bell's & Mac's before we went in. :D

I've got an image of you as Frank Sinatra in 'On The Town' now Noelie. :o What year do you reckon it was out of interest?

My eyes are hazel manc-mag :D ....My discharge book shows a voyage starting from London in September 1954 and docking in Glasgow in January 1955. It shows the ship was in Glasgow for 8 days before returning to home port London. I recall that voyage took in the Canary Islands, Brasil, Uruguay, and Argentina, and bonnie Scotland.

Quality stuff! When the world was a much bigger place than it is these days too, I imagine. Didn't recognise a lot of the references which is what made me curious, but it painted a picture!

Whatever yous do don't walk down to Govan Cross which isnt far, trust me on this. It makes 1980s Shields Road look like Regent Street.

We provisionally booked a hotel not happy about the kick off time though.

If you're on Paisley Road, try the Old Toll Bar.

Glasgow-OldTollBar-Gantry.jpg

proper bar.

2 minutes from the Grapes

I have to agree, Cracking bar.

What curry house do you recommend for after the game, just in case I make it.

Glasgow is the worst place you will ever eat food. They have chippies everywhere, all called "The Blue Lagoon" I got sausage and chips one time in the one under the arches of the Central Station, I gans "can a have a chips with the grease love" a bit in to the sausage, fuckin sheeps eye lookin back at me. Never ever again, it's nee wonder they all die at 51 there like.

I'm not really sure about the curry houses or the eating places in general but the chippie s are pretty good.

There's better chippies in every city in Britain, if you're expecting Gormans standard think again. The worst I've ever encountered not a one off neither. Thought they were pretty shite in Edinburgh too and even places like Eyemouth.

Is Glasgow 'salt and sauce' or is that Edinburgh?

"Coronary and cholestorol" more like.

Aye, glad we're not like that in the North East.

Not this side I find. Go to South Tyneside, Wearside and those places. Different world man. I challenge you to go to Asda at Boldon, then Asda at the Metro Centre, then report your findings back.

Btw, I checked and it's Edinburgh. I'd hate to think any of you would lie awake at night worrying about that.

You know I'm talking sense. Open challenge to anyone here. Do half your shopping at ASDA Boldon, half at the MC. Specifically look at how healthy people look, their dress sense and faces, report back your findings.

2 doors along from the above bar is an absolutely cracking Kebab house.

Everything made on the premises, a cut above your usual shite.

I was grafting in the area and ate the bait from here whilst sober :o

Make sure you get a pot of chilli and mint tomato sauce.

Any more questions fire away folks!

Is it true that the nicest place to go out in Glasgow is, in fact, Edingburgh?

If you're trying to be funny at least use correct grammar, Dave.
