manc-mag 1
Only been to Glasgow once and that was in my seafaring days an' it had nowt to do with football. Two things I remember most was the pubs were shut doon on Sundays and the only place you could get a drink was in a hotel if you lied and said you were a travelling salesman. Me an' me mates said we were travellers in steel. The high-light was been hoyed oot of a dance hall on a Sat'duh neet cos the two lads I was with had too many Bell's & Mac's before we went in. I've got an image of you as Frank Sinatra in 'On The Town' now Noelie. What year do you reckon it was out of interest? My eyes are hazel manc-mag ....My discharge book shows a voyage starting from London in September 1954 and docking in Glasgow in January 1955. It shows the ship was in Glasgow for 8 days before returning to home port London. I recall that voyage took in the Canary Islands, Brasil, Uruguay, and Argentina, and bonnie Scotland. Quality stuff! When the world was a much bigger place than it is these days too, I imagine. Didn't recognise a lot of the references which is what made me curious, but it painted a picture! Guest Gordon McKeag
Whatever yous do don't walk down to Govan Cross which isnt far, trust me on this. It makes 1980s Shields Road look like Regent Street. We provisionally booked a hotel not happy about the kick off time though.

There's better chippies in every city in Britain, if you're expecting Gormans standard think again. The worst I've ever encountered not a one off neither. Thought they were pretty shite in Edinburgh too and even places like Eyemouth.

I challenge you to go to Asda at Boldon, then Asda at the Metro Centre, then report your findings back. Open challenge to anyone here. Do half your shopping at ASDA Boldon, half at the MC. Specifically look at how healthy people look, their dress sense and faces, report back your findings.
