You dont use a 10 inch tablet to manage your diary. I use a 23 year old blonde Swiss lass not a fucking tablet.

With Apple TV, you can mirror your screen and play everything from music apps, bbc iplayer, videos, itunes match, the lot. Had it for ages. Again, before you wank yourself silly you wont be sitting on your sofa reading whats on the tablet via the TV. When you see it you'll see why.

Why do my cousins all want to get hold of older models of Apple TV then...which they can then jailbreak in order to watch streamed football? Doesn't sound as simple as you suggest.

According to CNET....

The good: The Apple TV lets you stream all of the movies and TV shows available in the iTunes Store to your HDTV on a rental or purchase basis, with purchases stored in the cloud. Netflix, MLB.TV, Hulu Plus, and a handful of other online media services are available, plus music, videos, and photos can be streamed from iOS devices using AirPlay. AirPlay Mirroring lets you stream any Web video to the Apple TV, including free Hulu, if you have a newer Mac running Mountain Lion. And Apple TV's user interface remains best-in-class.

The bad: The Apple TV is a less useful box if you don't own other Apple devices. Roku's competing boxes are less expensive and offer more streaming services, including Amazon Instant, HBO Go, and Pandora. And the Apple TV doesn't work with non-HDMI TVs.

Even if you do own other apple devices, they must be models made since 2011 as airplay won't work on anything prior to Ipad 2, Iphone 4s or a Mac from 2010 or earlier.

Because no one has jail broken atv3 yet i guess. They wont be streaming from the iPad so they may as well connect the laptop to the TV. Plus whats the point, streams have rubbish resolution, they are better small. I've got 4 HDMIs on my tv, 2 on the side with a spare cable, it takes 2 seconds to connect a stream to the TV but i never do it because its shit. Not sure illegal streams on jail broken devices are ever going to be a priority either.

Incorrect, 3GS and above running the requisite OS will give you airplay, mirroring can only be done on newer models. So what? Is that meant to be a differentiator? Air play and mirroring are old hat.

iOS 6 on ATV3 next year will see TV apps from developers anyway, putting games etc on TV with touch/phone/pad control. TV is the next thing, Samsung and Google are already well placed to develop this area too.

Aye you can get streams that are close to HD tbf. I watch them on a 40 inch TV and they look spot on.

Aye, i was referring to streams not sopcasts. With sopcast its a right ball ache to get it to work on a mac (need something call a wine bottle to create a windows environment etc iirc) then you'd need to get whatever media flowing from that to the ipad, then HF's cousins want to then get this to a jailbroken apple tv. It sounds quite niche to me.

(I've often got a wine bottle on the go come stream time too, waf-waf-waf)

Aye, I looked into the jailbreaking ATV a while back and was a faff I thought . Think their 'stock' dropped when Megaupload went down the pan

If i find a decent stream then thats what i do but its rare for me. We are often on Canal + nowadays so its not that often i've got a shit stream. I have never had the energy or the wherewithal to sort out the sopcast for mac thing and i dont have admin rights on my pc to set it up there.

Anyone done sopcast on a mac?

I just get a stream going and plug the laptop into the telly by HDMI. That's just how the Big Dog rolls.

Used to stream to the PS3 but it wasn't worth the faff in the end.

It's the only way forward .

The [Nexus 4] handset is available in a number of regions via Google Play and in the European region it is priced at $349 and $299 for the two models, but it seems LG may not be all that happy with Google’s competitive pricing of the handset.

Google is a massive company and can afford to offer the smartphone at cost and look to make money on it via its search options and digital content, but LG would be looking to make money on each handset it sells. The Spanish arm of the Carphone Warehouse has taken to its Facebook page to reveal it won’t be selling the Nexus 4 as LG wants the handset priced at $599, which is obviously a lot higher than it is on Google Play.

The company has decided to suspend sales of the device because of the conditions put down by LG, and wants to be able to offer its customers the best price possible for the handset. This seems to suggest that LG wants retail outlets to sell the Nexus 4 for a higher price, but on the Google Play in the UK the Nexus 4 is priced at £239 and £279, while the Carphone Warehouse website has the handset listed free when taken with a new contract starting at £31 per month, but there is no pricing for SIM free or pay as you go.

Watching the Nexus video last week Google were talking up the beauty of working with partners to drive innovation and improve competion between tech companies, as well as getting the best product to market at the best price....only really works if you don't fuck your partners in the arse when it comes to release day though.

Anyone else running Jelly Bean on their phone. If so, what do you make of Google Now?

I quite like the way it tells you how long it's gonna take to get home/to work prior to your commute time. I haven't worked out yet whether it chooses the least congested route in navigation, or if it just takes you the same way regardless.

Coming out the pictures yesterday too, it automatically told me the match score in the notifications bar, which was canny.

The stuff where it scans your emails and picks out flight itineraries and updates you on the status of your flight is clever too. Obviously a privacy invasion, but what isn't these days.

I'm having absolutely no luck searching for this, so thought I'd see if any of you guys know how to do this. Recently got a Galaxy s3, and I can't edit my m3u playlists easily at all. I used to be able to just plug my old htc in via usb, open the m3u up using winamp on my computer, drag new music onto my sd card on the phone and then drag this to the playlist and save it on the phone. I can't do this with the s3 as the pc only sees it as a phone and so I cannot open the m3u from the computer. If I copy the m3u to the computer it still won't open. I've tried going in to the playlist via winamp, which opens, but won't play. Took an age to add a new album individually by track, but opening this new playlist on my phone, it doesn't have the new tracks in the list. I've tried winamp, vlc, the default player on the s3 to try and edit the playlist but can't find any luck. Closest I can get is the default player where you can add songs individually, but only to the end of the playlist. Not much use when I want to add the new Black Country Communion album to a playlist of over 1000 songs and you can only move one track very slowly at a time (yes I'm a bit fussy and want my songs in a particular order). Frustrating.

I could take out my sd card and put it in my old phone and connect that to the pc and do it the old way, but there's got to be a better way than doing that every time I get a new album I want to add to my playlist???

I just use my ipod for music. so soz. no idea.

Seems like the Nexus 4 sold out completely within an hour. The 8gb one was all gone in 15 minutes.

Bastards.

All Nexus 10s are gone too. Still 7s avaialble though.

This comes a day after Samsung had so little interest in their tablets they had to start giving away their Galaxy 2 for free when you buy a camera...
