The Fish 10972
One of the few FIFA mandates I actually thought would push us in the right direction and they scrap it. I know that the result was entirely because of England being shit. Having said that, surely, surely they must see the benefit goal-line technology would have? TicTacWoe 0
Heskey must be bumming capello. No other explanation. Unless its the other way round. It's shocking alright, shouldn't be anywhere near the squad these days, Crouch should have featured more.
Gemmill 46146
Aye at 3-1 down, they had to bring glakey boy on, and not fucking Heskey. I mean if you're German, you're 3-1 up and you see Heskey coming on, it's time to light the cigars.
Gemmill 46146
I wanted Mexico to win tonight, until England got absolutely spazzed by the Germans. Argentina all the way now. Hope they win the thing, just to see what sort of knobbishness Maradona gets up to.
The Fish 10972
I'd love for a side like Mexico to go all the way, but they just won't Argentina or the Dutch for me
Papa Lazaru 0
At 4-1 i turned over to the cricket to watch some sportsmen who actually give a toss about playing for England and who are capable of turning up and doing it when it matters against the best. Also the team isn't filled with overpiad arseholes! Until we scored we were shite with probably the worst defending i've seen from England in years, then we got a shocking decision, but we still had a whole half to play at 2-1 against an average side and yet were were comprehensively pissed upon from a great height and deserved a caning. The tournament as a whole was a disgraceful effort from nearly all of them, including the manager who i expected alot better from considering his pedegree. I hope the media rips the arse off them to be honest, they played like they didn't give a shit and were utterly clueless and when you compare them to the pride say the rugby union lot show, they would run through brick walls for their country, it means everything to them. And if people think Rooney is in the same league as Messi as a footballer they want to look at his 4 games at the highest level and see what he produced. Dr Gloom 22188
it was all so predictable. the better players (on paper), yet again played with fear. how many of that german team would make it into the england starting 11 and yet they played like a team. they had the collective winning mentality that comes with years of winning. the collective failures of england teams past weighed on the players' minds yet again. golden generation? more like over-rated, over paid bottlers. should haver won it but played like a bunch of pussys. we hardly deserved to make it through the group stages. capello dropped a bollock too by not dropping lampard, not subbing rooney, picking players that weren't fit and playing gerard wide left. Sima 0
Joe Cole is England's most technically gifted player. Any future team needs to be built around him tbh
TicTacWoe 0
Really don't think we can do it. The Germans are fitter, have more pitch intelligence - get stronger as they go and are miles better organised. Klose will be back and they really have no fear of us. Can't see where the win is coming from unless Rooney or someone has a blinder. Park Life really called it right in the OP of this thread, there was no element of fear in the German side, they played with enthusiasm and freedom whereas there was an almost tangible sense of fear and nervousness about every pass an English player made. Part of that's due to the fact they're a young side, were unfancied coming into the tournament added to their history/pedigree and natural arrogance whereas a lot of people were genuinely bigging England up as contenders for the World Cup. spongebob toonpants 4161
So we have romped through the qualifying, Capello has solved the Lampard/Gerard riddle. Heskey might not score much but he gets the best out of Rooney, and the team play better as a result. Terry Rio and Ashley Cole are three genuine World class defenders. Roll on the World Cup - what could possibly go wrong
The Fish 10972
Joe Cole is England's most technically gifted player. Any future team needs to be built around him tbh Thing is, come the next world cup will he still have the ability to be incisive? This world cup should have been built around: A.Cole, J.Cole, and Rooney imo. I know Wayne didn't perform at all, but I feel that was as much down to the system as it was his own fault. Too many Hail Mary passes from Gerrard et al and too many blind hoofs up front from the central defenders. Milner did all right, Johnson ditto, but Gerrard, Lampard, Barry, and Terry were all atrocious. Not 100% it was all down to them, I think that system might have been useful in qualifying, but by the Gods we looked terrible in the competition proper. well it's over with, now we can get back to being utterly dejected about overpaid players who aren't fit to wear our strip instead. TicTacWoe 0
Barry has gotten away with a lot less critisism then he probably deserves due to the fact he's less hated than Lampard/Gerrard/Terry etc but he really was abysmal today.

And because against Algeria he did his job and did it well as Keegan pointed out on ITV, he was ok against Slovenia bar a couple of dodgy passes and bad today in amongs many bad and at times disgracefull efforts. So i don't see why he is due much stick to be honest.

Probably but his role in the side was vitally important and he really didn't perform, I think a lot of the defensive errors could have been avoided had he provided more cover. Barney 0
Capellos fuck ups need to be questioned. There's no doubting he's working with a handful of top class players, though. You could start with him bringing Heskey, Carra, Rio, SWP, King and his refusal to bring Jagielka or Johnson. You'd also question his last gasp desperation ploy of trying to bring Scholes. His refusal to play Hart or Crouch or Cole. Why was Beckham there? And why couldn't he motivate a team of top class players to beat Algeria. The FA should request a full break-down of where it went wrong.
Sima 0
Fucking hell, those interviews that were on BBC just there. A lot of them saying that they felt they were in control the majority of the game and it's only the dodgy decision to blame. Only Joe Cole came out and said Germany were the better side. No wonder England are average.

Holden McGroin 6787
More of or lot need to go and play abroad. The English footballer is incredibly insular compared to other nationalities. The whole German XI plays in Germany.

For England to do anything in the future they need to drop all of the old guard from the squad immediately.
