acrossthepond 878
Really didn't think we were anything special. Compared to the dross from the previous two matches it was a huge improvement but we completely took our feet off the gas in the second half and seemed tentative and weak, settling for 1-0 instead of pressing on to try to win the group. Andrew 4872
full of praise for Milner and Defoe here both made a huge difference, once milner got his eye in he was playing some devastating crosses that deserved more goals and Defoe chased everything when they had the ball Aye Milner doing Beckham's job and just swinging great crosses in. Makes a huge difference. Agreed he was class today. But then the passes as a whole were something else. Some of those long-balls were absolutely inch perfect. a ball by johnson that only got one mention, I reckon deserved more, sliced volley crossfield and forward to rooney, absolutely perfect pass
Bizza 105
Fucking Yanks, Germany next round then Argentina/Mexico in the 1/4s. Bollocks.
Craig 6700
Fucking Yanks, Germany next round then Argentina/Mexico in the 1/4s. Bollocks. To win the World Cup, you've got to beat them (or the team that beats them). If we get through both the Krauts and the Argies, rest assured we'll suddenly be red-hot favourites. Park Life 71
Famous last words, but I wouldn't be particularly scared of any of the teams in the Germans' group, to be honest. Even with us not in top form. Let's hope without klose they are sufficently blunted, there's always the late dive though. Pen 89min German styleee. Is Klose out for two games like? Or just one? One. Ayatollah Hermione 14069
No doubt in everyone losing their shit over the Argies in the Quarters. If we're going to win the thing, you've got to play and beat the best teams.

If we're going to win the thing, you've got to play and beat the best teams. that is true. But we don't have a cat in hells chance of winning it so just enjoy it while it lasts. At least we got out of the groups so have one or two more games. Those with flags on their cars can fly them a bit longer ........

ChezGiven 0
Very impressed by England today, very good going forward, Milner was fantastic, some of the best crosses of the tournament so far whilst James and Terry looked very assured at the back when needed. However, finishing second is extremely worrying for you guys, even if you do get past the Germans/Ghana etc in the next round I can't see anyone beating Argentina I agree the Argies will be very very difficult to beat but if you watched them in qualifying, they were utter gash. Anything could happen, they may have peaked too early, whereas we are just beginning to find our form. You never know.

Holden McGroin 6785
The England lads are a proper bunch of pampered puffs if they can't put up with a month or 6 weeks of discipline imo. Craig 6700
Germany are in a fucking awful position mind you... Stands to reason that they probably prefer to play the USA in the next round rather than us which means that they're better off playing for the draw tonight. If the do though and Serbia beat the Aussies, the Krauts are going home. They surely have to go for the win tonight.
