NJS 4446
RIP Loved the first two albums but the rest were stale - saw them when they were just breaking at an NME tour the night we played Stevenage - a good end to a shit day. Always thought it was harsh they sacked him and when I saw the headline thought it would be a leftover depression job from that but the new band thing suggests something else. Tom 14021
Weird when I think about it - I went to see the Phonics supported by Feeder and both their original drummers (who played that show) have died in what I presume to be similar circumstances. maggiespaws 0
Aye, their first 2 albums were quality and then Jones started making it his own and changing the direction. Went downhill imo as they lost their edge. IIRC it was that which lead to Cable leaving. He wanted to keep it harder and Jones didn't & with Jones being the main contributor - he won. RIP. By all accounts he was a sound bloke and a canny drummer (his hero was John Bonham IIRC).
