TicTacWoe 0
Tell you what if he doesn't play his arse off next season Man U could be in serious trouble. probably won't happen like but you never know.

He looks a right fat bastard at the moment. Ferguson cashes in, he ends up somewhere like spurs and he keeps expanding......

Dr Gloom 22182
he's had two crap world cups but it's a bit premature to be writing his obituary, especially after the season he just had. i wouldn't bet against him being man u's top scorer again next season. Papa Lazaru 0
He won't be finished and will no doubt be on top form again for manu, even in the Cl, but i have doubts that he'll ever take a world cup by storm and show he's really in that top bracket of players. Messi may not have scored yet but he's done more on his own than our entire squad managed because he is in the top bracket of players.
Holden McGroin 6785
Been shit in the CL as well ain't he? No. Didn't he take down AC Milan? And thats just off the top of my head. Rooney is an excellent footballer. Make no mistake about that. He has never been 'right' since that Bayern game when he got injured then was rushed back by Fergie. Rob W 0
you can't knock his club record - when he palys with top class foreign players in a team built around him he looks great - no doubt if he was playing for Brazil or Jormany he'd be equally effective but he hasn't the sublime level of skill needed to lift himself and tthe rest of the team out of a hole - as I said - very lie kAndy Cole

Park Life 71
The Andy Cole comparison still baffles me like. Apart from anything Rooney has done much better at international level. "Rooney was busy enough against massed markers on Saturday, volleying his best opportunity disappointingly over the bar but providing the cute reverse pass that presented Joe Cole with his second goal before the hour mark. The pity was that the Manchester United striker could not register his own reward. Of his 14 international goals, only five have come since he really burst on to the scene so impressively at Euro 2004. More damning is the reality that there have been only two competitive goals in the four years since - a cold hard fact that blatantly illustrates the current frustrations for the 22-year-old. "Wayne needs a goal and it would be nice to see him score," conceded Frank Lampard. "I think it would do him good, obviously, but there's a lot more to his game than just scoring goals. He's a creator. He wants goals for his confidence and, just when you need one in an important situation, he'll get it."
Guest alex
He's scored about 25 international goals plus about 9 in qualifying so I don't know where that bollocks is from. Also, he's apparently 'finished' after winning the double player of the year awards. Aye, righto. He's struggled for form since getting injured against Bayern Munich in March or whatever. Prior to that he was absolutely outstanding and carrying a very average (by their standards) Man Utd. side so I don't buy into the argument he only does well in a team built around his strengths either. That's far more applicable to someone like Lampard. Edited June 29, 2010 by alex
Dr Gloom 22182
one thing i would say is looking at the pictures of him with his top off after the germany match in the indy today, rooney doesn't look in the best shape. there were rumours of him carrying extra weight and they look to be true. he hasn't got the build of a permier league footballer at the moment. Sadly feels let down. Edited June 29, 2010 by Holden McGroin

He's an odd shape, built more like a heavy weight boxer than a creative midfielder come striker. I think it's going to be harder for him than most to retain his fitness and therefore form into his late 20s or 30s. He could do easily go off the rails, especially if ManU are forced to sell him or when Ferguson retires (next year imo).

He's supposed to have a pretty low body fat percentage so I don't think he's fat but I do think he's bulked up a bit since he burst onto the scene and the extra muscle has possibly slowed him down a bit. I know it's natural to put on extra weight as you 'fill out' but I think because Rooney was strong as an ox at 18, he probably needed a weights etc. regime that kept him relatively trim rather than making him bigger and stronger. Perhaps that's another effect of playing in the PL and the English culture. I think he probably will have to watch his weight as he gets older but, unlike you, I think he could actually thrive with the right move (to a top club abroad that is). Fergie was totally irresponsible playing a young player in those last few games knowing he was carrying an injury. Nothing fucks with young players minds more than going through those kinds of ordeals.

Fergie has connived into making him a hard working deep striker which is no good for Eng.
