Matty 0
From .com Recent speculation surrounding transfer moves for old boys including James Milner, Charles N'Zogbia and Scott Parker (plus mentions of Jermaine Jenas, Habib Beye, Sebastien Bassong and Damien Duff) prompted us to ask whether any sell-on clauses existed in the deals that took them from SJP. In the case of Milner at least it seems not, with his agent Mick McGuire telling journalists that Newcastle agreed to drop such a clause when holding out for the £12m that Villa eventually stumped up. At least we were nice enough to let them pay in instalments though eh!
ewerk 31340
Tbf I'd rather have the extra £4m guaranteed rather than have gotten £8m and a sell-on clause.
Happy Face 29
Tbf I'd rather have the extra £4m guaranteed rather than have gotten £8m and a sell-on clause. Spot on. Far better deal to get £12m without a sell on clause rather than £8m with. How much did you expect to get in that clause? Even at an ambitious 10% he'd have to have gone for £40m to make it a better deal that way. Edited May 21, 2010 by Happy Face
