I must be one of the few people willing to take a 20% pay cut and still struggling to get into the sector I want to. I'm going to London with the family at the weekend to see Circque de Soleil at the Albert Hall, so looking forward to that. Might go to the tower of London during the day. I bet that will be cool especially in that setting. We are off to watch Back to the Future musical and also the F1 exhibition. @Dr Gloom we are staying in Westminster area (I think) do you know any decent curry places? Dazzler 11250 Posted yesterday at 11:15 Share Posted yesterday at 11:15 I've spent the last three weeks on a health kick - drinking three litres of water, increasing my step count and nailing the exercise bike. Up until Friday I'd gone from 15st 8 to 14st 10 in those three weeks. Then the weekend happened and I've ended up more or less back to 15 clem Once upon a time I'd just have to make a decision to exercise more and eat less and the weight would fall off me (with little effort). These days I have to put an actual shift in for it and one slip and I'm back to square one. The beauty of getting old, I guess.

Gemmill 48546 Posted yesterday at 11:24 Share Posted yesterday at 11:24 I went to Brick Lane once. It was fucking disgusting. The restaurant was absolutely minging. It was no Ocean Road, that's for sure.

Renton 23111 Posted yesterday at 13:09 Share Posted yesterday at 13:09 Only times I've been to Brick lane was when I was taken by someone who knew the score. Best curries I have ever had, better than Rusholme even. Added bonus you could take your own drink.

Gets much harder. 50 milestone is the bitch. I've lost a lot of weight but stalled now at 85 kg. Doesn't matter what I do I can't seem to get passed this number. Do 10,000 steps plus religiously, live on fucking salads. And I am still in the overweight section of the cunting BMI chart.

And I am still in the overweight section of the cunting BMI chart. anyone can do it man, even at our age. you just have to put in a bit of work and pay attention to what's going in and going out at first. i found cutting booze is half the battle as it's much easier to stay in calorie deficit or maintenance when you're not wasting loads of calories on drink. i still allow myself the occasional binge but don't really drink during the week anymore. you've already got a head start there. if you really want to make sure you're in a consistent deficit, try downloading the myfitnesspal app. you can track all your meals and snacks so you know where you are. then aim for a deficit of 250-500 calories per day. there are online calorie maintenance calculators available so you can work out the numbers. i did that with a PT a few years back and it was transformative - really helpful to understanding how much portion control matters, even if you're eating good nutritious foods. i only used the app for a couple of weeks - i definitely wouldn't bother all year round - but it's a great way to get the right info embedded if you're on a mission to lose the love handles. have you tried lifting weights? there are so many benefits - increased bone density, which can help offset arthritis as we get older, plus building muscle means you burn calories more efficiently.

I need to put some muscle mass on for the next step I think. Still, losing 15kg without resorting to ozempic is an achievement. Of course, as you lose weight your calorie requirements come down as well, even my Google app tells me this. It literally becomes harder the more you lose. Talking of aging, I'm off for a another thing this afternoon I get to do more of at this age, a funeral. My suit actually fits me now which is a bonus. All my old clothes do. 👍

Dr Gloom 23126 Posted yesterday at 15:17 Share Posted yesterday at 15:17 i found it quite ironic that (outside of yorskhire) people would never dare say to someone: are you okay, you look like you put on weight? but i had several friends and colleagues asking if i was okay or declaring that i'd lost too much weight. apparently body shaming is only okay if you're thin
