Looks lovely though, not far from Calgary beach which is as beautiful as it gets. Maybe just stick to plan B and buy somewhere smaller around here when I retire. Hope I can still walk by then. Sigh. Been to Mull a couple of times. I saw an eagle near Calgary beach. Absolutely gorgeous spot. Bar the practicalities I would move there myself.

It's amazing what you can get for your money in Western Scotland though. Inmany ways the Lakes has more practical appeal but property there is sky high in comparison.

We’re up 2/3/4 times a night with him, doesn’t matter what we do, cage, on the bed, regardless of where he goes down he wakes up and either howls the house down or runs down stairs and barks till he’s let out for a “patrol”. Dr Gloom 22020 Posted Friday at 16:33 Share Posted Friday at 16:33 Sometimes life throws things up which render everything else meaningless. All the bullshit we carry around. All the worries about trivial stuff - careers, stuff that’s going on in the world that we can’t control, relationships, whatever. My best mate lost his youngest daughter last week. I won’t get into the details but it’s been the most harrowing week of my life as I’ve been with him for most of it. It’s every bit as awful as you might imagine - utterly devastating to see someone you love dealing with unbearable pain. There’s nothing any of us can do or say other then be there for him and his family. A life-breaker

Howmanheyman 33400 Posted Friday at 17:52 Share Posted Friday at 17:52 (edited) I'm really sorry to hear about the dog, @PaddockLad, especially when it's not a medical issue and my heart goes out to your mate, @Dr Gloom, it's literally everyone's worst nightmare and it'll be difficult for yourself too I've no doubt about that. Monkeys Fist 42566 Posted Saturday at 00:08 Share Posted Saturday at 00:08 @Dr Gloom, so sorry to hear about your mate’s tragic loss, man. What a horrible situation you find yourself in too- all you can do is be there for your mate when he needs you, but don’t forget about yourself. I imagine you’re also grieving the loss of the little girl, and it’s important you allow yourself time to do so. Other than that, not much more I can add to what the lads have already said.

Kid Dynamite 7076 Posted Monday at 11:42 Share Posted Monday at 11:42 Pissed off. Took out a bank loan to buy a car and expected it to give me the option of which day of the month they were going to take direct debits. Except it didn't and it defaulted to payment being on the day the loan was approved (26th of the month). Rang them up and said I'd rather not pay for my car 2 days before pay day every month so could they move the payment date to the 28th please. Apparently the only way they can do that is if I pay on both the 26th & the 28th this month, otherwise I would owe them an extra 2 days in interest. Who doesn't love a double car payment in Christmas month! If I'd known all of this I'd have just waited 48hours later to take out the loan ffs! The woman on the phone spent the whole call speaking to me like I'm on the bones of my arse, making sure to tell me I had a 35p overdraft charge coming up. The lass reckons I'll owe them an extra 2 days interest every month for the duration of the loan (60 months)! Is she having me one? Surely once I cover the shortfall in the first month everything then evens out? Otherwise that's an extra 120 days of interest I'm paying just avoid the double payment this month Edited Monday at 12:14 by Kid Dynamite
Renton 21746 Posted Monday at 12:14 Share Posted Monday at 12:14 We used to get paid a bit early on the NHS at this time of year? Pretty sure your salary is paid before christmas*? Then maybe sort it out next month if Gemmill's suggestion doesn't work so the payment is at a better date. If you're struggling to pay two loan periods in any single month, sounds like you have over-extended yourself (no criticism from me, I'm the same). Use a credit card as a bridge if need be. * We had one moaning cunt at my work, complained about getting paid early every year, even though obviously he would benefit through interest the tight cunt. He was single with no kids so had no additional expenditure at this time of year. Miserable cunt.

But if we are talking an extra £10 on 2 days interest then I'd rather pay that and have an extra £300 in my pocket this month. On the other hand, if they want to take an extra £10 (or whatever the interest is) every month for 60 months then they can get fucked Edited Monday at 12:22 by Kid Dynamite

You're asking to pay this single payment two days late which means you've effectively extended the period of your entire loan by 2 days, because your final loan payment will fall two days later than originally planned. That's where the 2 extra days of interest comes from. It's not something they get to repeat every month, it's just 2 days to reflect the fact that your loan period is now 2 days longer.

So proceed with caution on any financial advice I provide. But that shit above is bang on. I need a column in the Chronicle.
