Honestly though, unless you're the sort of person who is self employed and/or have managed to turn something that you love doing into your job, or you're doing a genuine good thing like saving lives, you SHOULD see work as a massive inconvenience and an imposition on your time. That's what it is. It's stopping you doing the things that you'd like to be doing or spending time with friends and family, and as necessary as it is to earn a living, that is bullshit and you shouldn't be getting up with a big smile on your face to bust a gut to make someone else rich. It's only 25 hours, money is shit but it's something different as long as we can afford it I'll give it a bash. A lot will depend on certain other circumstances out of my control going the right and proper way but I've nothing to lose really, I'm officially a carer so there's no comebacks if it isn't suitable for our circumstances. You’re contractually obliged to do your job and the company are contractually obliged to pay you for doing your job, that’s it. After my second batch of Paternity Leave I get 6 months working 80% of my hours for 100% pay and benefits, so I'm going to be taking every Monday off April-September. So I give my boss the dates and she asks if I know if I get the Bank Holidays as days in lieu. I say "that's not policy, no". She says that's not right, so changes the dates and sends it off. Her boss signs it off immediately. I effectively get another month of Mondays off. Is it because she wants to keep a valued member of the team happy, or is it because I'm entirely worthless?
