What mood are you in and why?

Took some creative route finding to get back from Shields. Every roundabout was under 2foot of water. The amount of flash cars conked out after steaming through massive puddles amused me all the way home though

Our street was entirely flooded. I'll post pics later. All the neighbours have spent 4 hours ferrying wheelie bins full of floodwater to the unblocked drains at the top of the street. Even the ones who weren't affected. Makes you proud to be British sometimes!

Surely the unblocked drains at the top of the street run downhill?

Been up Glasgow for the day and it was sunny. Watching all this on twitter was surreal. Drove back tonight and not so much as a puddle until my own fucking estate where the police have roads closed and fire brigade is pumping water. My house alreet like.

Was on the late news tonight that the river in Lanchester will burst in a few hours.

Meant to drive to Edinburgh tomorrow. Can't see any road closures north of Newcastle....still not sure like.

A69 - M74 was fine if you fancied the long way around. I reckon you'll be ok if you can get past Cramlington

 There was a point yesterday where I thought I was just gonna have to abandon the car and walk home. Every street you turned down there'd be a queue in front of you, and then everyone would start doing u-turns as yet another car conked out in the small lake we were all queuing to drive through.

Drive down another street, rinse and repeat. In the end, you just had to not do the u-turn bit, and hope your car didn't break down. Bet the fucker doesn't start this morning.

The lad I've been working with tonight (this morning) ended up walking to work after the roads were gridlocked. He turned up with mud up to his knees and we had to put him in the shower before we let him into theatre. He's having to go home in theatre scrubs this morning cos his jeans stink of stinky drains.

One of the girls left work at 8pm and couldn't get past Heworth to get to Shields so she came back to work and left at midnight when things had calmed down - she's back this morning at 8am too.

The hospital has been running on minimal staff overnight cos the police turned lads of people back as they tried to get into work last night, and we've had a few ambulances who literally could not get through the traffic with patients. Awful.

Been battered by hayfever of late and my dog had me up at 4am. So I'm knackered and feel crap.

Other than that, it's a half day Friday for me so not all bad.

@My_Metro are good for updates.

There is a service, just big delays.

Tyne and Wear Metro ‏@My_Metro

Please expect to wait up to 50 mins for a train. We have now been able to get more trains out of the depot but will take time.

Mental.

I still think the SW drains would cope better if we cleaned them out like we used to do. Our country's infrastructure is just f@cked from lack of investment and upkeep.

Yes this storm was a freak, but i still think some of the roads would of coped better if the SW drains could of coped with the volumn. Instead they are full of shite from lack of jetting and cleaning.

That's under the bridge at Walkergate by the Metro station, it's a deep dip and I knew that would happen there. It happened a year or two ago and an old couple had to be rescued as they were in real danger of drowning, IIRC some lads came out the nearby Railway Pub and waded in to get them out safely.

Aye we had that here 20 minutes ago. Blue skies and sunny now.

Lovely. Although I'm going to bed so it can do what it likes for the next few hours!
