Guest Barrack Road
Basically as soon as Stevie started the thread I reversed all my bets. :( It's safe to say it wasn't my finest hour. That was their holy grail, I'll hold my hands up, I never thought they'd get there, but they've done it, let's hope it's a one off though.
JonGoodwyn 1
Let us not forget also that for the first half of 08/09 they were below us in the league and look where they are now. Should be pointed out starkly to Ashley but it won't be... There squad is and was far better than ours so we were never going to be in the same situation, but it does go to show that if you aren't a complete fuckwit you can turn it all around quite quickly
Guest alex
Deserved it like. They might go far as well. I wouldn't say Bayern Munich, for example, are any better than them. Hope they go out in the qualifying rounds though.

luckyluke 2
Rather them than Man City tbh. If the latter got in the CL with the financial clout they'd be one of the bigger clubs for years to come in the PL and would be front runners for the title before long. With Spurs, they may do well but I'll be surprised if they consistently finish up there over the next few seasons.

Barney 0
It's probably the best thing from a spectators point of view, to have broken down the 'top 4'(I fucking hate that term/skyism). Would have been entertaining to see City spending buckets attempting to get the best in the business to the club. Fingers crossed for the owner to lose interest and bugger off soon enough. Happy Face 29
Time for Spurs to spend big now they're up there with the elite. Course, they won't qualify next year, they'll nose dive down the league and go under when they can't afford to maintain the increased wage bill. *fingers crossed* Edited May 6, 2010 by Happy Face

Tottenham haven't been classed as a big club for over 20 years, they haven't had the performances or the true fanbase to do it. Now though they're in one of the most densely populated places in Europe, and are building a 60,000 stadium, and have just qualified for the CL. That will increase their stature ten fold. We've been better known worldwide than the likes of them, Everton and Villa, purely cos of our title battles and particularly CL entrances. They have it now, not 7 and 12 years ago like us. It's a worry. You look at Arsenal they couldn't fill Highbury every week for years, bit of investment and success and they took off with all the money and gloryhunters down there, I can see it happening again. It's a nightmare.
donaldstott 0
I've never had any real affinity with Spurs but they've got a good, young side that plays attractive football. They deserved to win last night and I think they'll do well in the CL. And in fairness to saggyface he's really got the previously ordinary Bale, Assou Ekkotto, Dawson and Huddelstone performing regularly..

Guest alex
I thought Bale was class when he first went there but lost his way after getting injured against us, iirc. Looks absolutely quality now.

Yeah he did. Remember they played up here and he was on the left wing. Everything was going through him, then he got injured and I'm pretty sure we went on to win. Its going to be a tight squeeze at both ends of the table next season - no room at the top end like - even Tottenham and Man citys habit of fucking things up looks to be a thing of the past so in effect the top six next season are set in stone as long as liverpool get their act together - slim pickings for the also rans and a season long relegation battle

Everton should be our realistic target in 2 years playing for eighth. Maybe longer.
