How are the dogs?

All good khay.

Toony turned 1 in April and Geordie is about 2kg bigger than the little guy and 4 months younger!

I'd post pics but I'd rather not have to read CT's patter.

How's your furbabies?

far too warm to make sleep possible. Opened as many windows as possible without inviting the burglars in but the air is so still and muggy. Painted my nails and cleaned the kitchen. Now to watch game on! Haven't seen it for years, can we substitute the name martin for wacky in the statement- wacky you ginger tosser?

He's all better thanks! Was wreaking havoc at nursery on Thurs and Fri and has been to stay with the grandparents and Uncle P for the weekend so he's having a ball.

Those doggies are gorgeous. My mam would steal them from you in a second :D

bloody post nights and unable to sleep again.

I made a tactical error and agreed to shift swap onto nights today and tomorrow. Didn't think about the train to Bournemouth I have to get at 11:00am on Wednesday Morning...

I finish at 6:45ish It's that rubbish period where, staying up will kill me, and if I get home I'll only get 2 1/2 hours sleep. My plan is going to be to get one of the lads to come in an hour early, get home by 6:30 and get a good 3 1/2 hours sleep, then train to B'Mouth and have a disco nap as soon as I check in before going out.

A lot of new evidence suggests people who sleep less than 6 hours a night are more likely to die younger.

But would have been awake the same amount of time?

I hadn't thought of that :D

If you are awake a LOT more but only die a little bit younger, did you have a better life?

Presumably this is based on observational studies so the risk of confounding factors must be considerable. Are people sleeping less because they are drugged up and partying more for example?

I usually sleep about 5-6 hours on a school night but top up at the weekends. Not very healthy I imagine.

Same here and a bit worried about topping up at weekends once the nipper is born.

Am guessing the report bread referred to observational data, don't have it to hand. However, despite the intuitive confounding, there is also a lot of intuitive sense to a relationship between sleeping well and overall health.

I wonder if they measured just the duration of sleep, or if they simply counted deep sleep and discarded (forgive me if I'm wrong) the less restorative REM sleep?

I know I can sleep for about 8 hours and feel groggy and sluggish one day and the following night after the same length of sleep in the same circumstance I can feel fresh as a daisy. I know it's anecdotal and instantly can be dismissed, but I just don't believe that 8 hours every night would suit me. I prefer less than 6 other wise a)I feel like I've wasted too much of the day, 2) I generally feel lethargic after too much sleep and iii) my bed isn't that great so I wake up with a few aches if I stay in there too long.
