End of Season...

Many before the season started feared we would be languishing in the Championship for a few years, maybe never even return to the Premiership under the stewardship of Fat Mike Ashley.

But a summer of turmoil, chaos and uncertainty has been followed suprisingly with a season of consistency, resolution, comradery and stability has ment we have swaggered through this season brushing teams aside, marching forward and proving alot people wrong along the way.

Who would of though last summer that we would finish the season with an unbeaten home record not seen in over a hundered years? That we would finish with over a hundered points, but maybe most suprisingly with one of the best defensive records in the country?

Although "big name" players like Owen, Viduka, Martin and Duff left in the summer along with Bassong and Beye, and Given, N'Zogbia and Milner a few months before...we are actually a better TEAM now that then.

We are all in agreement that the SQUAD is not as talented, as gifted, but for many many many years we have not seen this type of togetherness and commitment from a newcastle team as a UNIT...Newcastle UNIT-ed.

Winning the CCC and collecting club records along the way is one thing but re-establishing ourselves as a Premier League team again is another, in our recent past we have been used to challenging at the top, fighting for european places, great european adventures. On the other side and our more recent past we have been used to the relegation scraps and it was only a matter of time before we finally and inevitably slipped out of a League we took for granted.

One thing we are not used to is having to re-establish ourselves...learn how to rub shoulders with the big boys again, and this summer is what its all about.

While the World Cup provides us with a nice distraction, i hope, pray even, that CH and his team are working hard to prepare our squad for battle in the Premier League.

Forumulating plans on how to stay strong away from home, how to continue our good work and foundations laid this season in terms of consistency and defensive form. But most of all i hope CH is seriously and honestly assessing our squad and is in the hunt for 5 quality players, 3 of which need to fit straight into the 1st team.

Right Back, Centre Midfield and Upfront.

You get that Chris?

Arguably and an opinion i share is that our squad/1st team IS good enough to JUST stay up next year, but why settle for that?

Nobody is asking for us to push for european places...NOBODY.

All we want is moderate ambition and gradual improvement.

A few shrewd dealings in the Transfer market could well be the difference between a relegation scrap and finishing comfortably around 13th in our 1st season back.

Finally...Well done lads, you have done well, you have proved alot of people wrong, answered alot of critics, but the work starts now...phase one - completed. Phase two - Establishment and Improvement.

Keep on Keepin On

To be fair most people didn't think the Championship was as shit as it evidentally is, so rather than bigging up how well our team have done I'd say it's been more of a case that we just haven't had to try (thankfully).
