Tooj 17
http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/news/80091...he-bookies.html SOCCER star Michael Chopra blew an astonishing £15,000 in a TWO-HOUR losing streak betting on horses at the bookies. Punters looked on in amazement as gambling addict Chopra peeled fistfuls of notes from a huge wad in his pocket to back a succession of losing nags. Then the striker with Championship high-fliers Cardiff City began to lose it himself when horse after horse failed to come in. One customer in the bookies said: "By the end of it he was getting really moody and cursing and swearing. He was banging his hand on a table and tearing up his slips. I don't blame him. I'd be gutted myself." Chopra, 26, went to the Cardiff bookies last Friday with team-mate Mark Kennedy. Their team has just won a place in the play-offs to decide the third team to be promoted to the Premier League. The striker went into rehab two years ago - after the failure of his marriage to model Heather Swan - to try to beat his gambling addiction. But he seemed back in its grip last week. The punter added: "He was betting thousands and thousands on every race. "He was only going back to the counter to put on more cash, not collect any winnings. He must have gone through £15,000 - if not more." On the bright side Chopra can afford it. He's said to earn £20,000 a week.

sammynb 3508
It's funny I remember years ago if was often questioned if Chopra was given the chances Ameobi had at Newcastle, would he turn out to be the better striker? Seems a year in the championship for both of them and he's proven to be the more prolific of the two. Shame we backed the wrong horse!
JonGoodwyn 1
Ameobis goal to game ratio shits all over Chopras, though Ameobis got 10 in 10 with 7 substitute appearances, Chopras got 16 in 36 with 5 substitute appearances

acrossthepond 878
Better to have stuck with Shola as he didn't cost us anything and his personal life isn't always appearing in the rags.

OTF 7492
This season was the first time ever that Shola has scored ten league goals for us. Took him 10 seasons. He is a European goal scoring machine though. 12 goals in 41 appearances. Completely different player TBH. Chopra would have scored f. all for us if played more extensively in his early years at the club.

Billy Castell 0
I'd forgotten about Owen's glossy brouchure. That really made me laugh, and imagine my response when Ferguson read it and thought he'll have a bit of that. He must feel like one of those people who buy an expensive timeshare in Spain only to find a building site, and a tent as 'temporary' accomodation. Between Shola and Chopra, I'd pick the latter. A far better 1st division player, and is just a better player. Mind you, I'm better than Shola.

So that's what 4 in his last 24 oh dear. I've seen "Chops" in Lads on Gossy High Street, and he always has a big entourage with him, always the same gambling wads of cash, seems a troubled kid.
