Noah's ark found

reconstituted dried meat? Surely that is a modern, industrial process. So now we're looking for Noah's fast food empire as well? And surely you'd want to save the tortoises as there were only a few on the boat?

Drying meat to preserve it is pretty ancient like. Possibly older than the world according to The Bible

Btw, surely there's not enough water in the world for the flood to have been possible. I bet they don't answer that question.

I'm sure this has been justified by saying there must have been more water in the past which has evaporated into space. I think some physicists have claculated the excess water would have severely affected the Earths tilt and orbit though (apart from the evaporation bit being bollocks).

I suppose all the 'answers' are bollocks.

But what about the 'reconstituted' bit? Doesn't that mean they made tortoise nuggets KFC style?

Good point. Colonel Sanders looks a bit like God, mind.

"Based on my two decades of research, I do not believe that anything more was needed than a basic, non-mechanical ventilation system."

Assuming Noah managed the heroic task of keeping them all well fed and watered, he was certainly no vet. Undoubtedly a lot of creatures would have died in the cramped, diseased, chaotic environment.

A death of any one meant the loss of the entire species. How many did we lose forever thanks to this righteous beardy cunt?

I saw a calculation based on the volume required to cover the earth to any kind of depth (never mind to cover Everest) which came up with a ludicrous amount of water which would have needed millions of years to fall as rain.

Of course the writers thought the world was a tad smaller than it actually is.

In general it's the old argument - if you want to believe in the God you say you do than he could have just clicked his fingers to drown the planet without rain so don't try and mix science in with your total bollocks.

What Did Noah and His Family Do with the Animal Waste?

As much as 12 U.S. tons (11 m. tons) of animal waste may have been produced daily. The key to keeping the enclosures clean was to avoid the need for Noah and his family to do the work. The right systems could also prevent the need to change animal bedding. Noah could have accomplished this in several ways. One possibility would be to allow the waste to accumulate below the animals, much as we see in modern pet shops. In this regard, there could have been slatted floors, and animals could have trampled their waste into the pits below. Small animals, such as birds, could have multiple levels in their enclosures, and waste could have simply accumulated at the bottom of each.

The danger of toxic or explosive manure gases, such as methane, would be alleviated by the constant movement of the Ark, which would have allowed manure gases to be constantly released. Secondly, methane, which is half the density of air, would quickly find its way out of a small opening such as a window. There is no reason to believe that the levels of these gases within the Ark would have approached hazardous levels.

full of shit

Do we have any christian evangelists aboard the good ship toontastic? I feel this deserves serious discussion.

In think The Inspiration is sometimes willing to debate but he's at the more sensible end of the spectrum and not a creationist.

We probably need Parky to lend his unique viewpoint.

True, Morgan Freeman does a good black Colonel Sanders in Bruce Almighty.

Talking of which, Freeman was also God in the truly awful film Evan Almighty, which was a contemporary version of the Noah's ark story.

People are overlooking the fact that 'God' can create as much water as he likes, whenever he likes. FACT.

No, I think you'll find NJS covered that in post #31.

He drinks Special Brew and hangs around in the local library iirc.

What happens at the end of the flood in the bible? Does God just say something like 'That's enough, everything back to normal'? I presume if He can instantly make a flood He can instantly remove one without the need for evaporation and odd planet tilting.

Thats Noah, his wife and their three sons saved out of all mankind...

Would you need that much water for a meteor strike and a possible resultant tsunami rushing across lowland Europe?

I think the sons had wives/kids - in fact one of them (Ham) supposedly went off to populate Africa which then explains blacks and slaves somehow.

One of the things in Dogma I love is the idea that God visits anonymously to do things he likes.

Europe being nowhere near where the story is set.

The story it was stolen from (Gilgamesh) supposedly was based on the inundation that formed the black seas but that was way before 4000 BC.

Absolutely, plus God could recreate all the animals, and more, by merely thinking about it. Noah must have been a nasty piece of work for God to hand him such a pointless and arduous role. Imagine the survivors guilt?

Are you discounting the existence of god based on your knowledge of a tiny little planet in a dinky silly little solar sytem on the edge of a minute wheel galaxy?
