As long as we give them new contracts!

As long as we don't sell them. I assume if we do run out of English trained players we could buy some more. Just going to raise the price of English players even more.

So you want to sign Gervinho and leave him out the squad. Good luck with that one

Haha my bad.

That actually poses a real headache.

Do you drop Jonas or Barton? Do you start Cabaye? Whe would Gervino fit in?

I think if Enrique and Barton went it would be a much easier decision. Maybe even for the better........

---Krul---

Simpson---S.Taylor---Coloccini---Mbengue

---Cabaye---Tiote---

Jonas------Ben Arfa------Gervinho

---Gameiro---

That is a pretty outstanding side imho.

Subs: Forster, Williamson, NEW R/LB, Larsson, Nolan, Ba and NEW ST.

Plus any starting 11 will inevitably include club captain & top scorer - Kevin Nolan.

So as it stands with a fully fit squad and Cabaye.....how would you line up then Tom?

I'm not really sure at the moment but I'm sure I'll deliver a line up when I know who we've got!

I would love to see us make some big signings in the ilk of Gervinho & Gamerio but either would be major coups considering the position of the club.

Absolutely but not beyond us and it seems we do have a good chance.

Yeh lets hope it's something more than a ticket selling scam. ;)

If you had asked me in January if I would have traded 3 players I've never heard of for Carroll in my naivety I would have probably said yes.

Of course all of this is going to aid the ST sales but i think its somewhat cynical to beleive its put into the media solely to drive the sales.

I genuinly beleive we are in the market with real intent and purpose.

NUFC end their interest in Cheikh M'Bengue

NEWCASTLE UNITED have cooled their interest in Toulouse left-back Cheikh M'Bengue – despite reports from France that the Magpies had tabled a fresh offer.

The Chronicle understands that United are looking at other options on their shortlist when it comes to the left-back spot, with Jose Enrique’s future still uncertain.

French 21-year-old M’Bengue has been on Alan Pardew’s radar since February when we reported that the Toon boss had embarked on a scouting mission in France to take a closer look at the player.

But despite talk from France today that a 6m offer had been pushed in the direction of the Stade Municipal outfit, while Newcastle are keen on M’Bengue it is thought that they will not be upping their original offer of 5m.

M’Bengue, who is also being tracked by Marseille and Lille, is thought to be keen on the move to St James’ Park. But even though Pardew will be ruling nothing out at this early stage of the summer transfer window, he is not afraid to look elsewhere.

Ideally, United and Pardew would love Enrique to stay on at St James’ Park and, after the Londoner revealed that the former La Liga star had been made a “fantastic offer” last week, there have been no further developments on the Spaniard’s future.

Enrique has been unsettled on Tyneside since January and is mulling over the package offered by the Magpies, with Newcastle keen to fight for the player for whom they paid £6m in 2007.

Pardew has always insisted: “We’ll do everything we can to keep Jose at the club.”

However, one player understood not to be making his way to Tyneside is Cedric Hengbart, who was linked with Newcastle this morning.

The 30-year-old Auxerre defender is in the final year of his contract at Stade Abbe Deschamps, with Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers also reportedly interested.

But club sources today distanced themselves between the £500,000-rated ex-Caen man.

And it has also emerged Newcastle have no interest in 27-year-old striker Craig Mackail-Smith, with Peterborough United confirming they had accepted a bid from a Premier League side.

Norwich, QPR and Wigan are all interested in the Posh forward.

Meanwhile former Plymouth Argyle hot prospect Aaron Spear has left Newcastle after failing to make an impact on Tyneside three years since signing from the Pilgrims.

The 18-year-old was understood to be unsettled in the North East and has now been linked with Fulham and an unnamed side in Holland.

What would the Chronicle know about it?

Pulling out of the M'bengue deal could be for a few reasons really.

Enrique could have made positive noises about signing this "fantastic" new deal.

More likely however its that they rejected the 6mil offer and want more than the club is willing to pay.

Would of been a decent signing however.

I think Warnock or (shudders at the thought) Konchesky are for likely targets for us unfortunately.

I think Warnock would be a canny signing actually DK. One of those signings that will need to be replaced thought. Only a short term fix and for that reason i would hope we looked elsewhere.

Konchesky is a no go for me. Just dont rate him. Never have.

Think that's you, me and every other football fan who's ever seen him in agreement there then!
