Dolly Potter MD 0
Carroll's immediate future [whether he's still on the books come Feb] is dependant on our form over the Christmas & New Year period of fixtures, and whether we can establish a healthy buffer between ourselves and drop zone. Ashley's a gambling man, and he'll run the odds if there is some breathing room. For a single financial year 20m+, in addition to the finanancial bonus' accompanied with top-flight survival/retention [especially for a club looking to operate within it's own means, on a skeleton budget] makes for an appealing windfall. Phil 6
Sidwell is being lined up by West Ham for 250k, as his contract is up in the summer. From what I remember of his Reading days, he was a great box-to-box midfielder, so has to be worth a punt. http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/aston-...-west-ham-move/
Park Life 71
I'm sure Hughton will be identifying a decent striking prospect for January. Absolute shot in the dark here but what about Ryan Babel? Alledgedly the dippers want rid. and they have everyright... Probably offer more than Loven and Best though. Don't know about Babel, on several occasions he's looked class but the very fact that both Rafa and Roy havn't seemed keen on him even when they have injuries makes me worried. Was really highly rated before he went there though. Attitude issues apparently.

From what I remember of his Reading days, he was a great box-to-box midfielder, so has to be worth a punt. http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/aston-...-west-ham-move/ Ability wise, he's one of the worst I've seen in a Reading shirt. Really can't shoot (yet shoots at any opportunity), can't pass to a teammate and every tackle he puts in is of the sliding variety. Plus, he's ginger. Brilliant leader however and it's no coincidence Reading weren't the same without his influence in the dressing room. His strength is that he tends to get the team playing well in spite of him. Wouldn't want him at NUFC, we already have Alan Smith.
Kid Dynamite 7174
I said in the match thread that James Perch looks like a player. He was very heavily linked in January and I would like to see that progressed in the summer.

Dolly Potter MD 0
Liverpool are trying to sign Eljero Elia - an outstanding man-beating winger, with quicksilver like pace. Probably the top 'winger' prospect in Europe imo. Way out of our league & price-range. A shame he's going to end up at Liverpool, he'd be devastating under Ferguson/at Man Utd. henda11 0
Newcastle are set to discuss a loan move for David Beckham when they open transfer talks this week. Manager Alan Pardew is scheduled to meet with club chiefs to mull over potential targets for the transfer window and Beckham has already come into his thinking. The LA Galaxy star, 35, is seeking another short-term stint during the USA's close-season having joined AC Milan on loan during the last two seasons. Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has claimed Beckham is keen to join Spurs while Everton are also thought to be interested, but Pardew has refused to rule out an attempt to lure the former England captain to Tyneside. "David Beckham is an asset to a team on a number of levels," said the Newcastle boss in the Daily Star. "But for a manager it's the playing level and the fact he can deliver a ball. He has the experience and guile to play for this team, 100 per cent. "But there has been no talk about David Beckham. "Perhaps I should ring him and see what he's up to, see if he is coming home. No stone unturned "We won't leave any stone unturned for any player who becomes available and who we think can take the club forward. "That conversation will probably take place on Monday or Tuesday next week. "We're just looking at the market and making calls to see who is and isn't available. Then we'll have to nail it down. I will put David on the list!" Beckham has one more year left on his Galaxy contract having signed for the MLS club in 2007. Also reportedly on Pardew's wish-list is Republic of Ireland striker Robbie Keane, who has seen little first-team action at Spurs this season. The Newcastle manager added: "We would certainly like to bring in one player in the transfer window and if we could get two, you always want more goals." Monroe Transfer 0
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11677_6658620,00.html Sunderland have had an approach for Aston Villa's Stewart Downing turned down, skysports.com understands and Steve Bruce is ready to turn his attention once again to Wigan's Charles N'Zogbia. Former Middlesbrough winger Downing was strongly linked with a move to Wearside earlier this month. Now Sunderland, who once had the England winger on loan from Boro, have tried to bring Downing back to the North East. However, Villa have shunned their advances, insisting he is not for sale and Sunderland are ready to turn their attentions to Wigan and N'Zogbia. The Latics accepted an £8million bid from Birmingham last summer, only for the former Newcastle man to turn down their offer. Now Sunderland could offer him the chance to return to the North East where he spent five years with the Magpies before his move to Wigan in 2009.
