Deano 0
Newcastle United are bracing themselves for a transfer melee involving topgun Kevin Nolan in the summer, with Arsenal among the suitors for the talented 28-year-old. Reports in the local press, and news out of the Emirates suggest that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been monitoring Nolan's progress throughout the Championship season and is said to be readying a bid of £5 million for the Toon midfielder. The Gunners are in the market for a combative midfielder and Nolan fits the bill perfectly. Toon gaffer Chris Hughton is unwilling to sell the former Bolton captain, but news out of St James' Park indicates that any bid north of £6 million would take matters out of Hughton's hands and into that of owner Mike Ashley. What a complete load of shit! I would LOVE it if Arsenal were going to offer 5mil for Nolan...never in a million years is this going to happen! LeazesMag 0
In actual fact, he IS tough. If he had played for Arsenal today they would not have lost their 2 goal lead against Wigan for instance. He isn't athletic enough for Wengers usual ideology, but I suppose it depends what he wants. The back four he inherited when he started ie Dixon, Bould/Keown, Adams and Winterburn didn't fit his ideology either.
Renton 22231
Can't see Arsenal being in for him but 5 million for Nolan seems reasonable to me. How old is he - 28? Still got time to regain his previous premiership form. He'd be a serious loss to us if he went without a good replacement imo.

He has scored a lot of goals for us playing off the strikers etc as we all know but I don't think he can play this role successfully in the premiership. I can see him performing well sitting in front of the back four as he gets older though, like Smith has done. He's tough enough and wouldn't have to run so much. Happy Face 29
Disappointed with the lack of interest in his ageing, player of the season winning top scorer, Mike tried to generate some offers with a preposterous planted story.
