Tooj 17 Posted April 17, 2010 Share Posted April 17, 2010 THE deaths of 16 pensioners at a South Tyneside care home could be investigated by police.Northumbria officers are already investigating the death of 81-year-old Joyce Wordingham who was a resident at St Michael's View, in South Shields. And, as part of the inquiry, detectives are also looking into the circumstances surrounding 15 other deaths at the home. A probe has been launched into the death of Mrs Wordingham from bronchial pneumonia on February 20. A 45-year-old woman voluntarily visited South Shields Police Station in relation to the death. A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "Northumbria Police is investigating the death of an 81-year-old woman at St Michael's View in South Shields, and as part of this process, is looking at the circumstances surrounding 15 other deaths at the home.
