Howmanheyman 33180
I went to t'Leeds v t'Man Yow at Elland Road in 2001. The toon were at Everton that day, I couldn't get a ticket, so on the Saturday morning, the brother in law who lives down south but is from Leeds rings me up "if you can get down to Leeds today you can come to the match cos me mothers not going." I thought right fuck it I'll see you in a few hours. At the very least it'll be interesting. The game was a 1-1 draw, absolutely NEE ATMOSPHERE at all, Leeds equalised late on against their so called biggest rivals, then late on had a perfectly good goal disallowed. There would've been absolute murders on here, but honestly it was almost passive. The cunts next to me had a blanket over their legs, honestly this there's just absolutely no comparison at all between the two clubs. They don't feel like they're anything at all, Sheffield Wednesday are a better club than them in my eyes, better supporters certainly. Also it's absolutely true they have a hatred for Newcastle. Whatever ANYONE says about Newcastle, anyone that knows the culture of the UK, anyone that knows football, Everton fans, Tottenham fans, fuckin Weymouth fans, not one of them can deny geordies and Newcastle United have a rich identity which is rivalled by few anywhere on these islands. Leeds identity is they're scruffy horrible cunts and that's it. That is where their jealousy emanates from. As Mancmag once said (about a completely different club and set of circumstances) Leeds are a tiny wart on Newcastle's big cock. They used to think they were the cock o' the North, the top lads/best supporters around. Games against NUFC were painful lessons to them that they weren't. The Fish 10857
Nah, Leeds as a city is nice and has some nice outlying areas. They tend to be a negative lot though.
CleeToonFan 1
Castleford is the biggest shithole around there, and the sorta place where rugby is the biggest sport, I shudder just thinking about it. Leeds is probably the best place in Yorkshire t'be honest, although that's like being the nicest gulag in Siberia, but Hull obviously being the rock bottom. Leeds as a club are nothing, you think about them about as much as you think Barnsley, they're just there.

Alex 35079
Don't know Sheffield although I've liked a few lads I've met from there and Warp was a fucking mint record label. Leeds is a good night out though and has nice shops etc. (been a while since I was there mind). Their fans however...
Dr Gloom 21915
sheffield is mint. i went to uni there and had a bunch of mates that were at leeds, which is only a 45 minute drive up the road, so got to know both cities pretty well. both were cool towns to be students in. had some class quality music nights; bit more of a rave culture than newcastle too at that time. though i was back in leeds for a night out after the cricket at headingly in the summer; you forget how the birds get done up in northern towns after you've been away for a while. wall to wall blart tbh. though a tad too much orange skin for my liking. impossible to get into some bars too in groups of lads or if you're wearing trainers. we had to get some random lasses to go in with us. haven't seen the likes in years. Brock Manson 0
Sheffield is a good night out, been there quite a few times for hockey matches/tournaments and always stuck around a bit after. The outskirts are a bit horrific but that's more indicative of the area tbh...

I live a 10min walk from Headingley, I worked there for 8 years and now avoid it when the students are there, its wall to wall crumpet, but also an equal amount of wall to wall wanker. McFaul 35
Had some good times down there later on in Wakefield. Had some rought times as well but always enjoyed it. Shithole or par with Scumberland We had a good neet in Pontefract after a Leeds game one time, well I say good, I was about 18 and I'm very short sighted had no contact lenses on as had me geps on at the game, so in the pub there was loads of lasses and one come over and said me mate likes you, and from where I was standing with no contacts in she looked fuckin mint, I says she doesn't look too shabby herself. So I walks over, and this is honest she had as much stubble on her lip than John Aldridge, I was like awe ffs. What a shite "anecdote" but that is my only experience of those towns to the East of t'Leeds. Never been to Wakefield, Castleford, never been to Hull neither, everyone says they're shite. The people are fuck all like geordies though, that goes for the whole of Yorkshire and the NW. I don't like being called a Northerner by Southerners, because without being snobby, we're completely different from these people generally speaking imo. I realise that it sounds like I'm generalising massively but you also all know it's true.

Leeds has got a lot of outsiders in it now, people coming to work in the financial jobs up here which has saturated the area with OOT. Generaly a Yorkshire person is a nice one, albeit looking negativly, you can have a chat etc. You goto places like Barnsley you can still have a chat to a stranger at the bar etc, do that in Leeds and they think you're odd. Geordies from my experiance are warm, approachable and friendly. But, not all as in all walks of life.

There are 60 racecourses in Britain, I've done 19 of them now, I want to do all 60. Still got 28 of the 92 league grounds to do as well.
