Well in an ideal world with an ambitious chairman id agree with looney, id love to see him here and i think he is the type of manager that could do well. That said, its extremely unlikely that FMA will show that level of ambition to bring in a new manager when we all know that if we are to stand a good chance of progression that is what needs to be done.

On the flipside, for the first time in recent years we have relative stability, Hughton has commanded the troops well and got us in a healthy position where we look certain for promotion. On merit he deserves to be given a chance in the PL but whether it would be wise to do so is another matter, i for one think CH has found his managerial level in the CCC and doesnt possess the tactical nouse nor the motivational skills needed to guide us up the league positions in the Premiership.

He may keep us up next year at a push but beyond that then we really do need to be looking for a better manager. Why wait i say.

Wont happen though.

Nah would rather give Houghton the chance since he's the one thats gonna get us promotion, would atleast give him one season to see what hes like.

this

But he had a chance, albeit truncated, in the PL and was utter cuntwash.

1. I think those were dark days when all sorts of shit was going on behind the scenes (Players wanting out etc)

2. I think will have learnt quite a lot from his season in charge

3. The players like him.

4. He doesnt appear to be an egomaniac.

5. He IS a good coach.

6. He deserves a go.

7. As with Souness, Fat Sam, Hullit etc there are no guarantees anyone else will do better.

8. Christopher Hughton is an anagram of ......Thug, cherish hot porn ;)

Good coaches are not necessarily made from good players as we all know

and celebrity managers are just that - we need a period of stability FFS

Aye in a period of utter carnage, most managers have to "learn their trade", he deserves the chance.

Mark Hughes still unemployed. Would you like to see him at SJP in the summer leading us into the prem instead of Chris Hughton?

Personally, I would. Be a good choice imo

In a heartbeat. ;)

it would be very harsh on hughton not to give him a chance in the premier league if he takes us up.

agree though that hughes is the sort of guy we should be looking at if hughton isn't up to it.

I think Hughton is a very good 1st team coach, and (ironically) would be the perfect man to have in place while a DoF looks at the bigger picture of the club behind the scenes.

He's unassuming, isn't driven by ego and seems to get the squad organised regardless of who he has at his disposal.

I don't rate his forays into the transfer market any higher than most managers because while Williamson and Routledge look decent, Best and Hall are baffling to me.

If we had a man who could find out from Hughton which positions need strengthening and focus his attention there, while bringing gems to his attention for areas previously thought to be strong I would be satisfied.

My other worry is that he does, at times, seem overly keen to shut up shop against sides who seem there for the taking if we were only to press them harder. I doubt this will be as much as a problem in the Premiership because without a good deal of strengthening we will be chasing more games than not.

For the most part i agree.

He is a good 1st team coach yes, relying on him to bring gems to the managers attention yet you arent impressed with his 'forays" into the transfer market...bit of a contradiction no?

We are all in agreement about best but im bemused at your comment regarding Hall! He has done a job and looked pretty solid! As a temp loan then inhm it was a good move. Had it been on a permanent basis then i would agree.

The main reason for me thinking he wont cut it in the PL is exactly what you said in your last paragraph...shutting up shop and far too negative at times...plus he doesnt come across as the inspiring type neither.

No, you misunderstand, I meant that the DoF bring gems to Hughton for areas that Hughton himself had previously thought adequately stocked.

Hall just seems a cumbersome centre half who is barely good enough for the CCC and is definitely not good enough for the Prem, I'd have preferred having faith in Kadar (who has looked head and shoulders above Hall) or signing a promising youngster.

When are people going to get that Hall is only a loan signing? And a good one at that. He identified where we needed cover and signed someone on the short term - full marks.

Hughes would be just about the top quality of manager we could attract, I think.

I see!

Tbh though fish i wouldnt not under ANY circumstances consider another DOF.

As for Kadar personally that would of been my choice too but had he been injured then we were royally fucked so bringing in cover has done ok. He has still got a few run outs and has looked decent.

Hall hasnt pulled up any trees no but he does look solid and composed albeit a bit static at times. Definitley no good for PL.

Next year Taylor, Coloccini, Williamson and Kadar with another addition on there for competition...but who?

Don't know if that was aimed at me, but to clarify, I'm fully aware that Hall is short term. However, I still think going for a prospect as cover is better than a has-never-been

Aye Fish your rite in a sense, Kadar has huge potential and has looked good when he has been given a chance but Hall has been solid...dont think he has had a bad game imo.

Made more sense to get in a CB with alot of CCC experience on loan rather than gamble on an untested 'prospect'. He has been given enough chances to show his worth, its not like he hasnt been used.

EDIT: However someone who id like to of seen given a few chances and who i genuinly think would of been promising on the odd chance is Kazenga Lua-Lua...Shipped out on loan when he could of got a few run outs for us and shown us properly what he can do. That said, before his injury, his experience on loan will have done him good.

If top clubs are sending their prospects out it's to get games, not sit on the bench. Hall is 4th choice and I doubt Wenger, Ferguson et all would see the point in loaning out prospects to be that when they would get more game time playing in their reserves.

Realistically we couldn't expect much better than Hall.

If he was interested in the job it should be a no-brainer. Can't see him wanting to work with Ashley and Llambias though. He's his own man.
