Tooj 17
It annoys me the way that Makelele is put on top of some sort of pedestal as the flag bearer for all defensive midfielders out there. It will always be Redondo for me.

The Fish 10963
That is pure footballing porn btw. I can't have been the only one to watch that and try to guess where the ball was going before he attempted the pass, and I can't be the only one who got it wrong 9 times out of 10 simply because his vision and technique is simply incomparable to mine. Honestly there were a couple where I thought "Oh he'll slide that between fullback and... oh. Oh no. He'll pirouette, and back heel it, perfectly into a player's path. PaddockLad 17643
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=sn-b5q2wrRk Look for the brilliant "winger" bang on six minutes
PaddockLad 17643
Well no, and if we have a look at Frank Leboeuf's challenge on Shearer in the clip we can see why movement is so important, Shearers dragged him 30 yards out of posistion and allowed Lee to get into the box with one of the main defenders taken out of the game. I'm not suggesting for a minute Shola is capable of movement like that at this stage of his career, but I am suggesting theres a bit more to playing as a forward than strict posistions on a piece of paper suggests. Anyway, what do you think of Rob Lee?...will Sissoko or Cabaye ever get anywhere near as good as him?...
The Fish 10963
theres a difference between drifting out wide from your position and starting there. if i'm playing left back and have to sweep accross to the middle to cover does that mean i'm playing centre half? no There's also a bit of a difference between Shearer and Shola. LooneyToony 41
I've looked and looked but have yet to find any video combining NUFC and The Animals. I would love it, absolutely love it, if someone made a video of St. James' Park and football highlights with the song "House of The Rising Sun" in the background. Two great things that came out of Newcastle.
Tooj 17
Comparing him to Cabaye is a good shout, sissoko is much too different style wise. But no Cabaye can't touch Lee imo Cabaye's style is totally different to what Lee's was as well though. Not saying he's as good as Lee though who as we know is a Newcastle United legend. (Barring Serginho like) I remember getting home from school and the Italy v Brazil match was on, sat there and watched it with my brother and my old man, magic stuff It has to be said, that for all Brazil's sublime attacking play, they didnt give hardly any regard to the defensive side of the game, which is why they didnt win the trophy in 82.
