Rumour doing the rounds

That pic in the Echo really doesn't help matters. It's clearly meant to look like a photo of the event (even though there are clearly fans in the background).

Dont let the facts (or lack of) get in the way of a good story eh?

If he's done it I'd love to know why before I make a judgement on him (although it would have to be pretty good to justify a broken jaw).

Nice to see our time in the CCC hasn't inhibited our ability to shoot ourselves in the foot. Finger is still firmly poised over the self-destruct button.

Having initially remained on Tyneside following the events of Sunday, we understand that Andy Carroll has now linked up with the rest of the Newcastle squad and is available to play at Doncaster Rovers tonight.

Hughton's toughest test over Carroll and Taylor bust-up claim

Mar 23 2010 by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle

CHRIS HUGHTON was today facing up to the biggest test of his Newcastle United managerial career as an alleged training ground bust-up threatened to derail the Magpies’ promotion challenge.

Newcastle were sheltered from the Tyneside goldfish bowl today in a Yorkshire hotel as they prepare to take on Doncaster Rovers in a crunch promotion battle at the Keepmoat Stadium.

But the game will now be played in front of the glare of the national media.

The Toon boss woke up to screaming headlines in the national papers citing a fight between two of his United stars in Steven Taylor and Andy Carroll, with the scrap understood to have left both players injured.

Taylor, who was on the brink of a return from a knee problem, is out for the rest of the season with a broken jaw, while Geordie boy Carroll is thought to have hurt his hand during the alleged brawl which is said to have happened on Sunday after a light “warming down” exercise at the club’s Benton base as the players were taking ice baths.

Although the 15-goal striker is in the best form of his fledgling Toon career, it remains to be seen whether Carroll will still line up against Donny.

However, while the rest of the United squad were scheduled for a later start yesterday before setting off for Doncaster, both Shola Ameobi and Nile Ranger were put through their paces in an extra training session at Benton. Either of these two strikers could come into the equation if Hughton opts to pull Carroll.

That was the United boss’ approach back in December when he left the England under-21 striker in the stands after an incident in a Bigg Market nightclub.

Then he dropped Carroll from the side that beat Coventry City.

But the big striker worked his way back to form to such an extent that he courted the attention of England boss Fabio Capello, who was assessing his chances of participating at senior level during the Three Lions’ next European Championship qualifying campaign for the 2012 tournament in Poland and Ukraine.

Hughton and United remained tight-lipped on the whole affair today, refusing to comment.

But it is understood that while Taylor is recovering from a broken jaw, a full internal investigation was taking place behind the scenes at St James’ Park.

And the Chronicle has also been informed that club owner Mike Ashley has been less than impressed with reports of the alleged incident.

NUFC refuse to comment on Andy Carroll row

NEWCASTLE United today refused to comment after Steven Taylor suffered a broken jaw following an alleged dressing-room bust-up with Andy Carroll.

The alleged fracas came during a vital week in the club’s promotion hunt.

The alleged confrontation is understood to have occurred at the club’s Benton training ground on Sunday morning during a routine warm-down.

It is believed to be the climax of ongoing tensions between the pair. Taylor underwent hospital treatment for his injury.

You can see Ashley's point like. He's worked tirelessly to clean up the image of the club since he's arrived with great results so far.

Exactly - they should have settled their differences by some kind of naked race.

I have to say I dont see tall this as an end of the world thing - the fucker will probably be locked up next month anyway and I think Hall/Williamson are more than adequate replacements for Taylor.

To be fair as much as a 19 page thread is a little excessive/obsessive they tend to laugh at us whether we are good or bad. Whether it was chants about Sir Bobby ''pissing himself'' or whatever we are always filling up a lot of their time.

I ocassionally browse over their to see how their Europa Cup hopes/ Relegation fears are going depending on the result of the last game or whether Bruce is the best manager on earth or the worst to have been employed in the game and I do get a couple of chuckles.

I would say about 50% of their threads are about us. :icon_lol:

At the end of the day why should their fellow team mates (who have worked so hard) the fans (who have been through so much shit) and the others who have worked / supported NUFC suffer?

Keep Carroll in te team (if his form merits) sort it out close season when we are in the Premiership. Keep the press out.

words of the fat lad :icon_lol:

Apologies if i'm 3 pages behind but didn't he deck another teammate last season too?

Supposed to have offered N'Zogbia 'outside' after training to see who was the hardest. Shame Mick Harford wasn't back at NUFC. I think that would soon put a stop to that sort of shit :icon_lol:

Aye then the zog fucked him iirc

In the Journals round up of the match it says......

The Journal understands that Steven Taylor is willing to move on and will not look to press criminal charges against his teammate, although he does expect Carroll to be disciplined by the club for the assault, as well as an apology.

An internal investigation has already begun into the training ground incident and both players will be spoken to this week, as well as witnesses who saw the fight and the argument which led to it.

The club continued to refuse to comment on the issue yesterday and the players have also been banned from speaking about it.

Hughton (right) was happier to concentrate on another positive result for the Magpies

Hopefully this the end of this particular banana skin.

Plainly an argument about who was top Geordie gone too far.

ST plainly loves the whole from the terraces to the pitch, Geordie boy done good schtick, and never misses achance to peddle a cliche(I reckon he would be a right soopafan if confined to the internet)

He must be sickened by Carrol being from Newcastle and a centre forward, especially now that Carrol is banging them in on a regular basis.

Shame Carrol is living up/down to his stereotype quite so much though.

Anyone else get this text, I've had it off two people so everyone must have it.

HERES THE TRUE STORY.....(allegedly) Taylor was texting Carrolls lass who has Andy's bairn, while the toon were at Swansea and he was in Newcastle, asking her to come round...Taylor used to shag her before Carroll. Taylor is despised by all at the club, very arrogant and done his best to get a move to Everton in the summer which pissed the lads off. His fatha, the copper, has went to the press spinnin a load of shite on the back of Carrolls bother in the Bigg Market...Here's the depth of feeling in the squad, Butt, Nolan, Smith, Butt and Shola all went in and told CH to sell Taylor cos of his selfish attitude. Carroll is apparently thick as fuck but a good honest lad and easily wound up...They were in the treatment room after training when Carroll went up to Taylor and said one chance to admit it I've seen the texts, and Taylor just laughed - I bet the cunts not laughing now!

I don't know what to believe at the minute, the only thing I'm certain about this text is that Carroll is thick as fuck.

I don't like Taylor so I'm going to assume it's true.

I know a lass who knew him when he was in his teens, and she said he was a very very wierd lad. I met him pissed on night though, he was in the casino on his own but was polite enough which must've been an effort given how pissed I was. He's like a young Phil Brown in many respects though.

I think Carroll only did what many blokes would do in that circumstance if it is true, and you would've thought that if there wasn't a spor of a justifiable reason behind it, that would explain why he was recalled last night.

This, he does come across as a smug wanker who loves himself and likes to hear himself as well.

Well done Andy, chiv the cunt next time.

P.S If that tale is true about him texting his bird when Carroll was in Swansea then he's got off very lightly imo.

Tbf if Taylor has a history with her too then it's not really carrolls place to get all defensive(or offensive) if he's not with her anymore especially over "texts"

She's the mother of his kid though, they will always be connected whether he or she likes it or not.

If that mug thinks Everton are a bigger club than us then some cunt should drive him there in front of their 32,000 crowds when they're doing well.

This stuff happens all the time. Either Carroll's got a fantastic right hook or he got un/lucky. As people have said, it's interesting that the club don't seem to be in too much of a hurry to throw the book at him. Plus, there can't be many who don't get the impression that Taylor is something of a knob. Not saying he deserves the broken jaw but he could wind in his attitude a bit until he's actually done something.
