Watching Fulham Tonight.

I realised that Duff stole his wages off NUFC last season. Much the same as Owen, Martins, Viduka etc.

Bastards.

Hasn't Duff been gash all season?

I suppose playing a continental team that give you time on the ball...especially one down to 9 men... flattered hiim

edit: Just read the report and realised it was 10 men until stoppage time.

tbh I think its more like our staff weren't capable of getting the best out of him

hodgson is doing that and he looks like a good player again because of it

Watching Fulham tonight reminded me of how good European nights are.

I am now suffering from what the Germans call Weltzmarsche(sp?)

hes had a better return for fulham this season than he ever did for us

Is this fair though? The NUFC speciality is rushing players back from injury, ensuring that they're never fit and then break down again. Look at Stephen Carr for Birmingham City for instance, I understand he's been a regular this season - they said he was finished playing for us.

I wonder whether he was gash or just not fully fit?

He honestly doesn't strike me as that type. Duff that is. He was poor for us but I think he was honest at the same time.

Duff was the only midfielder of note to leave so essentially last season he was playing with the same midfield that has been variously described this years as 'pedestrian, unfit, lacking technique, poor movement, no final ball, poor delivery and generally shit against the best teams in the championship'. No wonder he did fuck all.

Fulham will start to think they're a serious contender rather than London's poor relations

and we all know where that sort of thinking leads.......................... Portsmouth, Leeds....................

don't think so. a succesfull season for fulham is getting in the top 8-10 of the premiership and a decent cup run (both of which are acheivable).... hodgsons team has one thing we didn't have. fight. and some midfielders that gave a shit. duff was clearly constantly recuperating from injuries sustained at chelsea, when he was with us and was often rushed back too early.

Hodgson, identifies the teams weaknesses and addresses them on the cheap. he's also an excellent motivator. look at the back 4, they know each others games inside out.. that builds confidence throughout the rest of the team. to be fair most of that team are journeymen, but they have consistently punched above their weight all season and last year as well.

I was asleep and missed it all for fuck sake, sounds like I've missed a cracker. I like Roy Hodgson, seems a good honest man, who bleeds black and white too by all accounts, and not just Fulham's black and white.

The thing with Duff, I think it's unfair to say he has no technique, but it's a bizare technique he has. I think for the last three years at Newcastle there has been a definite negativity around the stadium and the club, and restricted all of the players. I hope it's clearing.

I was very much of the opinion that Duff was finished last season but after seeing him in several games for fulham recently, and his last few internationals he has really impressed me and shown quite a few glimpses of the player he was at Blackbrun and Chelsea (early days).

Also been extremely impressed with Zoltan Gera when I've seen him this season both in the league and in europe.

Be canny funny if Fulham win a European trophy before Chelski (albeit the UEFA cup...)

But yeah, Hodgson has done a brilliant job with Fulham since he's been there, only 3(?) years ago they were fighting relegation with Lawyrie Sanchez and they also play neat attacking football from what i gather. I'd have him here in a flash but there's no chance he will manage us sadly.

Just seen the goals there, better than Pedro 84 that fourth goal, what a fuckin goal. GWAAPA as the Spaniards say. He's the best yank I think Dempsey, not saying much mind.

I have a soft spot for Fulham- they beaver away next door to Chelski and never give up

At least their fans aren't fair weather supporters - Chelski couldn't fill their ground for their last Derby at home to the Hammers for example.......

Not wanting to give footballers the sort of easy excuse they always look for, but i agree, its been a terrible place to play for a long time till this season and i suspect alot of players weren't going to show their best form here.
