Some polling stations turning people away at 10, others staying open longer. Could be hell on there.

All polling stations should have shut at 10pm on the dot. If people have made it by then - tough shit. They've had 15 hours to vote FFS and the option of postal voting!

Exactly. We've known what day it was going to be on for six weeks, and they've been open since 7 this morning. If you roll up at five-to-ten and there is a big queue you've only got yourself to blame imo.

What if you got there at 9.30 and were stuck in a 35 min queue though? [\Devil's advocate]

they are saying we could be back at polls in November!!

I mentioned earlier. My ex works in electoral services and they've been told to keep the whole of October free.

Having said that, I don't have a problem with a rule whereby the queue gets cut off at 10pm and anyone who's there still gets to vote. As long as the rules are applied consistently, which they doesn't seem to be. Or more to the point, there don't seem to actually be any rules. Did nobody think of this? :(

Agreed but it's a big risk to leave it that late. In 2001 and 2005 I was first to vote at the polling station :(

Whatever happens, the rule has to be uniform across the country.
