Mandelson: "The Prime Minister said something he does not believe."

Fucking hell, the stupid comments keep on rolling. The Tories are going to their money's worth out of this one!

By a million miles the best news at ten, in history. Sad thing is the fucka will still be in power in 6 month time. That old dear left the hoose this mornin for her pint of milk, 24 hours later people are probably writing a script for a film and she'll have made £100k at least off the papers for the mornings editions. Happy days.

Why didn't I hire a PR man like that when I mention Matthew Syed and the Hajj.

She'd be a fool not to sell her story to whichever paper offers her the most money. This is your chance to get out of fucking Rochdale love!

In the same position, Cameron would have done exactly the same so go easy on the moral high ground CT...

But that's the point, I would doubt even Nick Griffin would get "In the same position" Brown's a buffoon

To be fair, Brown's only shot himself in the foot. Nick Griffin managed to shoot himself in the eye without even using a gun.

I've just read the woman's comments to Brown, while not bigoted, they were incredibly stupid.

all these Eastern Europeans what are coming in, where are they flocking from?

Hmmmm, now where exactly could these Eastern Europeans be coming from?

'Flocking' is quite an unusual word to use, any chance it could have been misheard?

The comment itself wasn't bigotted, but it did remind me of 'I'm not racist but....'. It's likely a speech about how they're taking our jobs etc was likely to follow had she been left to go on - I reckon that's what Brown thought anyway.

Pretty much a non-event blown up out of all proportion at the end of the day. People complain about politicians being too guarded, boring, and not saying what they think. Well, this illustrates why. Anyway, the election should be about policies rather than personalities, and this is where Labour are clear winners imo, I hope that comes out tonight.

Saw the Labour peeps round my neck of the woods for the first time since i've been eligible to vote, and my dad says he's never seen them out and about in Durham for as long as he can remember. Pretty sure this seat will change hands to the Lib Dems this time.

Actually, I reckon he was feeling sorry for himself and blowing the thing out of all proportion to the aide or whoever it was he was talking to in the car. In the way her question wasn't bigotted, the encounter wasn't a 'disaster'. As for the lady herself, I think she was just trying to express as many concerns as possible, including immigration (which she only briefly touched on) in the short, chance of a lifetime, opportunity she had to question the PM. The daft part is he handled it all pretty well. Shame it overshadows the real issues but he only has himself to blame for that.

And while Brown may feel that such an argument is bigoted, it is how an awful lot of voters are feeling. To dismiss such concerns in the way he did was foolish, whether in public or private.

In the cold light of day I'd agree it's a case of him having a negative view of the encounter and feeling as if he'd fucked it up which led to him get her thrust wrong. I think it illustrates that he's just not that good a people person which I don't think is a big surprise anyway.

Bigoted is probably the wrong word - in my view I'#d have no problem using the word "uninformed" or similar with a view to openong a debate.

Aye but that word could be used to describe most of the electorate tbf. The only thing Brown cocked up on really was getting caught.

Yeah, I thought he might be blowing off steam to his aides as well. It's something most of us do all the time if we're honest I reckon - I was a 'bit negative' benind some GPs' backs following a training session yesterday, difference was I wasn't wired up (and I'm also not the PM in an election campaign!).

It would be interesting to see the reaction to someone who was just totally honest = sort of like Alan Bas'tard combined with the Jim Carrey character in Liar Liar. "You spoilt middle class cunts", "Underclass charver scum", "Coffin dodging homphobic, racist twats" would be good ways to address crowds.

When you think about how much pressure he was under compared to the way most people blow up when someone cuts into their lane at a roundabout it puts it into a bit of perspective. Of course a lot of people are hypocrites who like to take the moral highground to make them feel better about themselves. Not to mention the press.
