Pakistan v England

Well it got underway today and should be another cracking test!

Pakistan at the end of the first days play, Pakistan are 4/300.

Inzi is on 80*

Afridi is on 67*

Afridi is a freak. He came in and the first ball by Bell was a dot ball then he unloaded and the next 3 balls were smacked to the fence. He is currently going at more then a run a ball after hitting 4 sixes in the innings. One which landed on the roof of a grandstand.

Bad light stopped play with 9 overs to bowl today, England need to break this partnership early tomorrow otherwise 450+ could be on the cards.

Giles is getting smacked.

This test is so much better then watching Australia v West Indies!

Good performance by us today ;) , although mind its a cracking pitch and we'll need a bit more to put you under pressure. Afridi's innings was brilliant, even though it was slow by his standards

Cant wait for tomorrow..

Third update from roving reporter Gemmill:

There's been a loud, unidentified bang somewhere in the ground - and guards, holding machine guns, are on the pitch. There's talk of explosions, and players are understandably worried, but then police identify that it came from a gas bottle.

Trescothick's oot.  And Pakistan are cheating!

Earlier, there was a disgraceful display from Afridi who, at the change of ends, loiters a couple of yards from the stumps before doing a disco inferno 360 turn.

It's a dance-off!

Both Pietersen and Bell give him due respect and then - surprisingly early - the umpires offer the light and play is suspended. As Pietersen walks off, he glares at Afridi before going a 360 spin.

England took the bad light on offer and at the end of day 2, England 3/113 still 349 behind Pakistans 462.

I didnt see the scenes on the pitch after that gas cylinder but shit that would of freaked me out if i was there! In todays climate you can never tell what it is going to happen.

Pakistan's Shahid Afridi has been banned for one Test and two one-day internationals for deliberately damaging the pitch on the second day of the second Test against England.

The all-rounder has been deemed guilty of a level three breach of the ICC code of conduct. He was shown by television pictures scraping his spikes into the pitch during a break in play caused by the explosion of a pitch-side gas cannister.

The 25-year-old was left out of the first Test in Multan but blasted a thrilling 92 from 85 balls - including six sixes - in Pakistan's first innings in Faisalabad.

The decision by match referee Roshan Mahanama means Afridi will miss the final Test against England and the first two of the five matches in the ODI series to follow, all of which take place in Lahore.

The disciplinary hearing was attended by Afridi, Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq and coach Bob Woolmer.

Afridi's actions in scuffing up the pitch were presumably intended to rough it up to help Pakistan's bowlers.

Mahanama said: "This ban should serve as a message to players that this type of behaviour is not allowed.

"Mr Afridi apologised for his conduct and said he was very disappointed with himself for acting in that way.

"However, a player of his calibre and experience is a role model and he should set a good example.

"A lot of people not only in Pakistan but around the world look up to him. He has let them down with his actions today."

Cheating little swine!

I'm glad he's suspended from the last test though, he's an explosive player.

I always thought we'd struggle in Pakistan, how on earth do you go up after the ashes win is beyond me. We'll do well to draw the series tbh.

Roll on India...

Disgraceful stuff from afridi, all the more disappointing because he's a top bloke and is said to be a great character around the dressing room. Was the last person I expected this from. The ban will hurt us as well.

Funny how noone's mentioning the inzamam run out though. Firstly, throwing like that is against the 'morals of the game' as they say, you hardly see it being done. Secondly and more importantly, that cant be given out. The commentators later stated that the rule book clearly says a batsmen cant be given out if he's avoiding a throw aimed directly at him and it hits the stumps. Funny how the officials missed that, even funnier how the media's ignoring it.

Quite a day eh??
