Aye, Greenwich itself is lovely. A bit yummy-mummy in places, but you'd expect that.

I live about 20 minutes' walk from Greenwich station and you actually get estate agents advertising this neighbourhood as South Greenwich. Rightio. :icon_lol:

Where do you live Westcombe Park?

They've now made a 'village' of trendy flats out there, and Christ it's a depressing place. As well as the live venues in the dome, there is a street of shops and bars...still inside the dome. We went to some shit derivative eatery there and the waitress asked if we wanted to sit inside or out. :icon_lol:

Greenwich itself is quite nice and one of the handiest places to get in and out of London from, and has proper outdoors.

The Blackwall Tunnel is a nightmare a lot of the time.

Got close family who live a Jonas Gutierrez shot away from the top of the park, and I have to say on a sunny day the park itself is one of the most beautiful places in the whole of Britain. You even get dears roaming around sometimes, it's mad.

Agree about the BWT, however Greenwich proper is about 9 minutes into London Bridge on the train and you can drive out to the M25 in around 20 minutes. That equation is rare in London.

I used to live in Greenwich Village but am in Fortis Green now, north west between East Finchley and Muswell Hill. A fairly generic piece of not scuzzy suburbia, with truly insane house prices. Very handy for the A1 and M1, that's about the best thing I can say about it, that and the fact that stabbings are only biannual. Hampstead Heath's pretty good actually, 5 mins away.

Anyway, back on topic...if Gordon had any sense he'd get down there asap and bomb fuck out of Buenos Aires, make sure he get's himself voted back in. ;)

Is it? Blackheath is normally about 15 but it always fucking stops beside the powerplant next to the new den for no reason at all.

They're tied in with the yanks and some we'll protect you treaty though aren't they? Apparently Reagan told Thatcher not to start a war with them in 82, Thatcher said do one, so he did. Imagine that weak Scottish bumbling fool doing that with Obama now?

Four overground stations and a couple more DLR stations between 5-15 minutes' walk away. Not exactly on the doorstep, but not too shabby for the tube-free zone that is the Sahrf-East. One copes. ;)

The club (Matter) is meant to be good. At the Dome that is. Never been but the soundsystem is apparently the best around, lots of people seem to go there.

Oh and Stevie, as of June i'll not be looking kindly on any french-bashing on here. Its a family thing.

Mind, that'll be a thankless fucking task.

Never been in the big hall but the IndigO2 is canny enough as identikit gig venues go. Even if the only "lager" they serve is bloody Becks Vier. :icon_lol:

great small venue for a gig, excellent acoustics. Saw Cake there.

Congrats I didn't know you were getting married.

To be fair I get the impression the French moan more about their country more than outsiders do, and while it's not my cup of tea it must have something to be the world's biggest tourist destination.

My impression of France went up when Sarkozy admitted they'd all be krauts if it wasn't for us, and that they owe us an eternal debt of gratitude, imagine the likes of Len Pen or Mitterand doing that.

Aye, he likes to paint himself as a bit of a liberal man of the people. At least Tebbit doesn't even pretend he wouldn't sell his granny.

I remember when Mark Thomas did a show on the Millenium Dome and the way Hestletine (and Mandelson to be fair) ignored perfectly reasonable questions and wouldn't even speak to him beacuse they knew they were screwed was beyond ignorance.

Mandy's cut from the same cloth anyway. Btw, does anyone even know anyone who went to the Dome for the Millenium exhibition? It looked absolutely tragic on TV.

My dad did. It was.

My dad took us. The Blackadder Back and Forth special was good. The rest of it was dire.

I see Desire have said their well has found oil but it may not be commercial.... = 50% drop in share price

Industry rag which I get to see through work said at the time of the original stories:

"Wildcat-ing of the type not seen since the early days of the North Sea, no-one benefits but the speculators"

Original stories start = share price up, some sell make some dosh

Reality strikes share price drops.

What a surprise

to be fair it took a lot of wells before oil was found in the N Sea

I guess the good news is that they did find some oil and gas - nowt like a nice basin which is too cold to have generated ANY oil or gas - you really are stuffed then

All they have to do is to find some reservoir now..........

Nearly spat me coffee out this morning listening to five live.

Tony Blair's cock-sucking constituency manager (I think it was anyway) defending him on Iraq with the statement that "more people died in the Falklands than in Iraq."

He seemed taken aback when Nicky Campbell incredulously asked for clarification, given the hundreds of thousands (possibly millions) of deaths that resulted from Iraq. When he realised his mistake he pointed out he'd meant British deaths as if he'd never even considered an Iraqi life might be a bad thing.

When he started trotting out the line that there were WMD's and the Iraqi's just moved them before we got there I was biting my elbow, Campbell didn't even bother pointing out that was a lie.

:D
