Phil 6
He was his usual wasteful self up until his goal. lets get this into perspective. People are slating 2 of our ex players who are playing in the premiership and played for us when we were a good premiership side ? Are Zogs and Bramble your idea of ambition? Which says everything.

With some players (Ginola springs to mind) you can get away with a ropey attitude but Zog's not one of those like. I would honestly rather have Jonas as overall I think he provides us with more. I don't see players of the calibre of Alan Shearer, Rob Lee, Les Ferdinand, Andy Cole, Jonathon Woodgate, Gary Speed, Craig Bellamy, Laurent Robert, David Ginola, Philipe Albert, to name a few at the club in such numbers just now. Do you ? Here's to a top 5 finish next year then. Simple.
sniffer 0
FFS, people have short memories. Bramble was error prone at best and n'zogbia was a whinging, disruptive shite. A goal for each of them doesn't change any of that and we are better off without them.

Guest alex
Tbf, I think Wigan got the better deal. Ryan Taylor ffs. And while I question N'Zogbia's attitude I'd also say he might have made the difference that would've kept us up. Kinnear obviously wanted rid or had been told to get rid imo. I would've liked to have seen what Keegan might have made of him. Same applies to a few others, like Milner (KK tried him in CM iirc in pre-season). Dr Gloom 22149
we shouldn't have got rid of n'zogbia when we did. another contributing factor to our relegation. we are well shot of bramble mind. i'd rather play any of our centre backs ahead of that donkey. He looks farily solid at Wigan as he did at Ipswich, both small clubs with small crowds and limited pressure. The simple fact is that Bramble couldn't handle the pressure of 52k (and the fact that there were 52k palpably nervous geordies whenever the ball went within 15 yards of him). He's got plenty natural ability. Apart from what you mention though, which is something 2J and I were on about a while ago, I'd also add he's a massive 'confidence player', which isn't good for a position where you need consistency. He also struggles with concentration at times, another bad thing given where he plays. That just stops him being a 'top' player though as he's definitely PL quality at CB. wykikitoon 20731
Bramble just needed to concentrate and needed some half decent next to him
peasepud 59
Confidence is a major factor, let's see how confident Williamson is when the likes of Rooney is bearing down on him before making comparisons. As we've seen, there's a gulf between the Championship and big boys.
David Kelly 1260
Whilst I agree he has some attributes that could have made him a good centre half I think the negatives that Alex mentions far outweigh them. Personally I would rate both Coloccini and Taylor higher than him and Williamson whilst not looking anywhere near as talented, seems to be a much more consistant player (yes I realise this is a different league and he's only been here for a short time). I don't think his form has been anywhere near as good this season as it was under Bruce btw. Either way he's certainly no loss to the club. Guest alex
It would've been madness to renew his contract tbf. Don't agree Steven Taylor is a better CB though. I haven't seen evidence of that.

As we've seen, there's a gulf between the Championship and big boys. It's not just Rooney, the biggest gulf between the two leagues is up front, even the likes of Ricardo Fuller gave us problems last season. Williamson has never played against top level strikers, but he seems to read the game well and blocks a lot of shots. We'll see.
Dr Gloom 22149
did bramble really look talented? he made andy o'brien look a solid centre half to be fair. i think the problem with bramble is that he's thick as two short planks. not only does he not have a football brain, he doesn't have much of a normal brain either. too thick to make basic decisions on the field.
