First two letters represent the area i.e LA - LZ represents London, MA - MZ represents Manchester, NA - NZ represents Newcastle

Numbers represent the year but dependent on what time of year car is produced i.e.

09 - March to August 2009

59 - September 2009 - February 2010

10 - March to August 2010

60 - September 2010 - February 2011

11 - March to August 2011

61 - September 2011 - February 2012

Last 3 letters are random.

This'll help too LM.

The first letter is known as the Local Memory Tag and the second letter as the Local Identifier

Then have a look at this link: http://www.knowledgerush.com/kr/encycloped...te_identifiers/

For example a car with the reg NR58 ABC was therefore registered in Stockton on Tees sometime between September 1st 2008 and February 28th 2009.
