Our lass does that. I park in Neutral but she parks in 1st. So if she borrows my car I've sometimes had that lurch forward. I usually check that Im in neutral before starting the ignition like.

Well, being an MP at such an early age is not really normal is it? Whatever happened to joining the human race for a bit and experiencing the real world, then standing for election after becoming a respected member of the community (even if it is Sunderland).

 

Maybe I'm being harsh as I hate the current female Labour MPs as they all seem so smug, patronising and condecsending. That and she reminds me of a Nada Farhoud who was a real New Labour flag waver in the year below me at school. I just hope she doesn't love Peter Mandleson as much as Nada. The hair cut was awful though, and I was a child in Germany during the 80's so I should know.

Coxhoe family find car hanging over their garden wall

 

 

THEIR cars are famed for their safety and display an enviable record when it comes to withstanding crashes... and with parking like this perhaps it's a good job.

 

A North East family returned home to find this Volvo teetering over their garden wall when a quick trip to the supermarket went embarrassingly wrong for its driver.

The 59-year-old woman behind the wheel mistakenly hit the accelerator instead of her brake, catapulting the car nose-first through the fence of the Co-op car park, in Coxhoe, County Durham, and into the wall of the house on the other side, yesterday lunchtime.

 

The car completely missed the parking bay the driver was aiming for. Instead of grabbing last-minute ingredients for a Bank Holiday feast the unlucky motorist found herself surrounded by emergency services and a structural engineer as they worked to recover her car.

 

The occupants of the house were out when the crash happened and were astonished to return home and found a Volvo dangling four feet into their yard.

 

The homeowner asked not to be named, but said last night: “I’ve seen better parking.”

 

No one was seriously hurt in the mishap, although damage was done to the fence and garden wall of the property, on Church Street, with a number of bricks dislodged.

 

Police said the woman, who is understood to be Scottish, had explained to them she had only recently bought the car and still wasn’t familiar with its automatic gearbox.

 

Father-of-five Mark Harris, 34, of Coxhoe, was also taking a trip to the supermarket when he spotted the back of the car up in the air. The delivery man said: “I couldn’t believe it when I drove past, I didn’t think it was possible. Most people don’t have any sort of problem parking over there.

 

“I just wondered how it could have happened. It’s only a small car park so there’s not even enough room to get up any speed. It was still there when I came back out of the supermarket with my family.

 

“You wouldn’t expect to come home and find a car in your garden like that.”

 

Firefighters saw the car had struck the house where the gas enters the building and quickly turned off the supply. A rescue team was required at the scene to help free the female driver and her three passengers. All were checked over by paramedics but required no hospital treatment.

 

True to reputation, the car appeared to have suffered minimal damage during the mishap.
