Andrew 4857
"Not even a big buy could raise my spirits now. Routledge has been very indifferent this season, but selling your best players sets a dangerous precedent and displays above all a complete lack of ambition. The only thing I can cling on to was that it was £3m+ and all of that goes into buying a new player, a better one." who are you quoting?
donaldstott 0
Perhaps CH has taken the decision to stick with what he's got striker wise. Buying a winger would free up either Pancrate or Nolan to play up top. The idea would be that we bombard crosses in to Stroller and Andy Caroll.. Dr Gloom 22147
Where the fess did this come from? I’m pleased with it though, we’ve been lacking balance and drive, hopefully with two *wingers* we can actually get some more balls onto the bonces of our lumbering forwards. Might mean at home we can play with a little more of the freedom that’s afforded to us by the bad guys parking the bus... and away from home we can still grind out 1-0s by bludgeoning the opposition into submission. Yeah, he’s not the best player, nor does he have the best attitude, but hopefully the team ethic we have will cover (or alter) his lack thereof. Any idea of the fee? This is the first big club he's played for, he'll realise he'll never get a better chance, and his attitude with QPR this season has been excellent. Young players often have a bad attitude think they're billy big bollocks, particularly black southern players for some reason, but I have faith. They don't seem particularly bothered about him leaving. The general opinion is he's been "crap since Derby" and he wasn't really interested. He's the new Franz Carr. thats about right. Franz Carr was a world beater some games, other times he looked like he should be selling watches on the beach. One of my favourite ever toon memories was Peacock's goal at Derby when we won 2-1 1992, Franzie tortured the left back and made the goal, and the whole toon end jumpin up and down "OOH AHH FRANZIE CARR SAY OOH AHH FRANZIE CARR". Class memories. Routledge could be a really good player for Newcastle, I don't think this comment needs any pessimistic posts Leazes. Say he'll be shite in the Prem when he actually is, he's played many decent games at that level.

Not going to argue with you mate you are one of the people who spouts sense on here, I don't really agree Carr was that good at Forest and wasn't over ecstatic when we bought him either. He had pace but lacked control for me. At least Routledge had pace and I've said we need that because we do. I suppose for now we just need promotion then re-group but my problem is that I am convinced that this sort of signing is the limit of our owners ambition for us. Dr Gloom 22147
i don't see how anybody could be unhappy with this move given our current situation. he's exactly the sort of player we need at the moment, we would do well to attract better and to be honest, even though he's struggled in the top flight, he'll probably do a job for a mid table side at least as a squad player, which to be fair is the best we can hope for in the next few years.
