No because they almost always add sugar to their rum and their versions are aged in France rather than tropically. Ayatollah Hermione 14146
All this chat makes me necking a bottle of that ALDI spiced rum last week seem like the act of an unrefined charver. Decent with a mixer, to be fair. Probably wouldn't drink it straight

Alex 35717
It’s just spiced rum is basically a liqueur. There’s about two brands don’t add sugar but on the whole loads is added. If you like it that’s fine but it isn’t ‘rum’ to me in the same way Drambuie is completely different to whisky. The real villains, if you like, though are those producing things like Ron Zacapa and Bumbu. They market these as ‘premium’ products when they’re based on pretty young, neutral spirits that are flavoured and sweetened and this is marketed as being down to the ageing process. I don’t mind people liking them but they’re charging at least double what they should be. That said, the people who buy into brands like Zacapa probably deserve it
Howmanheyman 34115
18 cans of Stella for a tenner at Asda. Nipped in for something else on Wed but would've been rude not to. (Not a massive Stella fan but when the price is right.....) 2
