Christmas Tree 4827
People that wanted him dropped are tits though. Santon is looking the dogs bollocks lately. That's due in no small part to the assistance he's had from Gutierrez. The likes of Colocinni and Enrique buckled completely in their first seasons in the top flight. Jonas has been a major factor in protecting Santon and his arse would more than likely have dropped completely if he had Shane or Marveaux in front of him. So should we play Jonas in front of Simpson to make him look better!! Anyway, we shall see what happens over the next few weeks. The key is still how Pardew sets us up and instructs us to play. Park Life 71
Needs a haricut. Spends half the game fiddling with his locks.
Happy Face 29
So should we play Jonas in front of Simpson to make him look better!! I wasn't saying Jonas makes him look better. Santon is quality. But he only played half the games last year. Drop him in the team behind either marveaux, Sammy or Shane when he nor they had much Premier league experience would be asking a great deal of him. He'd be bitterly exposed, fucking his confidence and perhaps sacrificing a multi-million pound investment. Simpson is an English right back who has played in England his whole life. He's used to the pace and the lack of time you get on the ball. He didn't need slowly but surely brought up to the pace of the English game. He's just average. Pardew recognised that and worked on Ben Arfa all season to get him tracking back too though.

sammynb 3508
Jonas will probably just shrug it off. Let's fucking hope so. For me a left footed fullback behind Jonas is the perfect foil. As good as Santon is, two right footed players down the left makes us one dimensional and if you compare it to when Enrique was the player behind Jonas, bombing forward, the service into the box was better. A better built, more talented Ferguson there, moving Santon to the right is the way forward. Unfortunately lil Shane there will give the team the occasional cross (with no one there to be on the end of it) but like against most teams he's started against this season he will go missing for much of the match.
