Scottish Mag 3
Nolberto Solano is training with Colchester as boss Aidy Boothroyd weighs up a move for the former Newcastle and Aston Villa midfielder. The 35-year-old, who plays for Peruvian champions Universitario de Deportes, join up with the U's this week. Solano made more than 250 Premier League appearances for Newcastle, Villa and West Ham between 1998 and 2008. Boothroyd told the club's website: "If it all goes well it might be something that we do." He added: "I tried to sign him for Watford but he went off to America. "He now plays for a team in Peru who have just won the championship there and I asked him to come over and see if he's still got what he had and to see if he likes us. "I suppose it is a bit of a date that we're having at the moment. As is usually the case you don't get married on a first date, you've got to go out a few times before you make any big decisions." TheMoog 0
I love Nobby to bits but at 35 it's a bit of a distance to up sticks again from South America.
snakehips 0
I get the feeling he could make a canny good coach/manager one day (as I did Lee Clark - and said so on here ) (the others I got wrong don't count, of course )
OTF 7214
Half time trumpeting, yes please. I'm sure even at 35 he'd make 31 year old Geremi look like he's 80.

I had a dream the other night that Geremi came on, got played down the left by Enrique and crossed a picture perfect ball for a Shola header. I assume it was a premonition. Apparently Simon Bird just saw Geremi in Peter Barretts Garden Centre buying a festive fire surround. Nobby as a coach would be lovely, but Nobby as a manager of a Peruvian team from which we get first dibs could be a better idea?

We already have first refusal on all top quality kids from South America. Cheers, big man.
Guest Stevie
I'd put Nobby in my five favourite toon players of all time, and favourite foreign player by a country mile.
