Now, call me ignorant as I havent done much research into this, but. Why are we still sending aid to India?

Now, I ask this because of the following

  • Corus has a massive industry out there
  • IT Companies have massive industries out there
  • Call Centres have masses of industry out there
  • Car manufacturers have industry out there

There must be loads of others too that the west use Indian skills for. They must make millions, no, billions off the western world?

The GDP per capita (or whatever the proper phrase is) will still be very low and I think you've probably got the bit in bold the wrong way round (in net terms anyway), at a guess at least. I'm not sure foreign aid helps though and is probably even counter-productive in many cases.

I'm heading over there in January, I vow to do my best to share my wealth with the local curry and whore houses.

Remember to save a bit in case you have to bribe your way out of the local jail

cos even tho the economy of india is massive (and growing), theres so many people the average share of the wealth is very low indeed.

still dont agree with sending them aid tho. it generally ends up going to the richest and never reaches the poorest. same could be said of most aid sent by this country tbh.

You make a good point but there's no fucking way India are number 2. They don't spend more than us, Russia, France and China etc. Perhaps it's number 2 as a %-age of GDP.

Aye, you could be right. I saw it on a documentary, but I would have sworn they were actually in the top two (according to the doc). They do spend an absolute fuckin' mint on defence, though. Perhaps their space programme (yet another reason they shouldn't get any help) is on their defence spend also?

Still can't be more than China though. Like I said though, I completely agree with your point about giving aid to a country spending loads on defence.

Not sure it's backed up by facts but I always had an idea that one of the factors in the German and Japanese post WWII economic strength was that they didn't have to spend billions on defence.
