Jack Wilshere

Arsene Wenger is ready to allow midfielder Jack Wilshere out on loan, but only with the right club.

Wilshere became Arsenal's youngest player in both Europe and the Barclays Premier League when introduced during the early part of the 2008/09 campaign.

However, Wenger has been cautious in his use of the England Under-21 midfielder this season.

Jack the lad: Wilshere training ahead of Arsenal's final Group H clash

The 17-year-old has made just five appearances in total, three as substitute, but is set to feature in a youthful Gunners team for the final Champions League Group H game at Olympiacos tomorrow night.

Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers, along with Middlesbrough, have been linked with a temporary move for Wilshere, who turns 18 on January 1.

Wenger believes the youngster could benefit from a spell of regular first-team football away from Emirates Stadium.

'There is a chance [for a loan], if we have an interesting opportunity,' the Arsenal manager said.

'I would prefer it to be in the Premier League, but at the top level of the Championship could be interesting as well.

'It is important for Jack to play, so if we find a good opportunity, we will consider it.'

We're top heavy in midfield, but if I was toon manager, I would without doubt do everything to get this kid on loan for another option. I've only seen him about six times, and I'm not going to make rash predictions, but I think he has the ability to be as good as Gazza, no really. He'll play for England for years and years, he's better than Aaron Ramsay who's got more experience. Wenger says he'll loan him to the right club, well he has a long history of bumming the toon "best fans in England", "potentially as big as Arsenal", so howay fatty sanction a loan bid for him.

It mentions Rangers and Celtic being interested, what possible benefit could he get by going there??? Honestly I think if ourhat goes in the ring he's ours.

The only thing working against us getting him could be a concern that he wouldn't play that much for us. If he did come here and didn't play it would be a minor travesty as he looks to be a wonderful player with composure and skills well in advance of his age.

If we got him for the remainder of the year with an option to extend beyond that it would be nice. Obviously he'll always be one for Arsenal (been there since he was 9 according to wikipedia) but he'd be a good player to have here for a year or so.

I think I read something about Wilshere saying that the Championship wouldn't suit him and he only wants to go on loan to a PL club.

Big difference between Newcastle and other Championship clubs though, and I'm sure he'd view it that way. Good experience for him, playing in a winning team, medal at the end of the season, in front of big crowds, bigger away supports than he's used to with Arsenal's pathetic following, he'd enjoy while making our play more attractive.

we're definitely a different animal to the Championship clubs that he has said he'd prefer not to join. I'd love him here and think he'd easily start for us at home, perhaps bench away at some of the trickier grounds. I can't see him going to Scotland. It's a shit league, lower standard than the Championship an it's further to go from home. I could see him

joining QPR onloan due to the money they've apparently got and the relative proximity to Arsenal, but if he thinks with his head he'd see we're in need of his kind of player and he'd be alongside genuine internationals and seasoned premiership pros.

Wenger wont let his players goto Scotland from what Ive heard.

The Gooners already have a couple of players already in the Championship so he wont have a problem with us. So if it was us or the Smogs, I am sure he & wenger prefer it was us

Bruce and wenger are pals aren't they?

I can see him going there ahead of the Championship. Also, while we may not be a typical Championship team, he still would have to play against that sort of shit every week.

Guthrie/Ryan Taylor for starters. hopefully it would spur either player on not to be so shit.

they’re playing right sided midfield/winger, Wilshere is a left sided attacking midfield.

I only ask the question because I imagine he would play instead of Jonas, Nolan or even a returning Barton.

Jonas can do what he does on the right hand side.

so why’ve we signed Pancrate?

We have a thinbare squad as it is!

exactly. we need the bodies. Pancrate can change a game with his pace(from what I've heard), and we don't have much of it in our squad. We'll never get Wilshire permenantly, we'd be lucky to get him on loan. As it is, we've taken a pacey, experienced winger on a free transfer. Nowt wrong there.
