GLOBAL WARMING

It's made up in such a way with such weight of evidence it looks as if it's real.

So is the evidence real?

It's manipulated.

What reason is there for it being manipulated?

Manipulated or not, I can see only positives from investing in alternative energy.

Even if Global warming isn't being accelearated by man (and the evidence says it is almost certain, though not incontovertible) the oil we depend on is being burnt up at a faster rate every year. There will be anarchy once it runs out. We already have constant war because whatever tenuous grasp we have over the middle east must be maintained at any cost.

We've watched this situation for 60 years and done little long term planning to solve the problem. The fact that Global warming is perceived as enough of a threat to actually do something, when those other threats have been ignored is good, right?

Stuff like this....

It's journalism like this that pisses me off.

The scientific consensus is overwhelming yet the Telegraph still manage to give serious inches to one old man's ramblings.

I dare say they'd still be printing 'Earth is flat' stories if there wasn't photogaphic evidence.

Bit of an odd response to an article where the journalist says fuck all but lets a fairly esteemed scientist do all the talking. In fact the only thing the journalist says is "It’s so utterly damning that I’m going to run it in full without further comment."

If you dont think there is an agenda associated with global warming then why is Goldman Sachs long on all its investments associated with carbon emission reductions?

Even if global warming is real preventing it is a battle that has already been lost. There is no way the governments of the world will agree to cut emissions as much as is needed, and even if they did they would not enforce it properly.

That's why they've already started sparying the skies with barium and the like to catch Co2 and block sunlight.

The scientific consensus was overwhelming on aids killing millions and millions across the planet, it was overwhelming on bird flu from China causing carnage across Europe and killing everyone over 50, it was overwhelming that superbugs would eat everything in the fridge....Science is cobblers. Global warming being man made is cobblers. It's a trick to sell us shit weäve already got but with a little green label on it.

I find your batshit theories funny in the main, but your one about HIV not causing AIDs, and AIDs not be responsible for killing millions of people, to be borderline offensive tbh. At the very least it makes you out to be someone who can't be taken seriously.

And a very easily offended reptile shapeshifter at that.

My best lizard friend died of bad aids you insensitive cunt.

How can you be positive that Parky's theories aren't correct anyhow?

Are you going to get philospophical on me now? Is this like 'how can I be certain cats miaow when no one is aound to hear them?', or 'how do I know the room exists behind my head when my back is turned?'

I suppose it is possible that the big pharmaceutical companies have taken over the Schools and Universities and everything I have been taught is a lie (as well as somehow sabotaging my lab work to give the expected results of course), but I don't consider it be very likely.

It's still journalism. He's not written anything, but he's taken one source, no doubt not checked the veracity of that source. The man could be a crackpot, he could be suffering delusions, he could be taking back handers to help in his self-imposed retirement.

By calling it utterly damning makes it worse.

 Emeritus Professor of Physics, University of California, Santa Barbara. You're right to point it out, i'd want to see his commercial disclosures before taking it any more seriously but to be fair, it does seem his complaint was about a stifled debate, not the conclusions of alternative analyses.

Take your point, but he'd hardly be the first person in a high level position to be got at mentally because of stress. He certainly wouldn't be the first scientist to be got at by the oil lobby!!

I have a vested interest. I'm a committed green and for the last six years I've been employed by companies who work to reduce CO2 levels. :icon_lol:

There will be a direct green tax within 5 years and the money will come straight out of your paycheck, that is what they are heading toward. Don't come whinning to me when that happens. What people don't understand about science these days is that it is no longer a noble pursuit, but just another arm of the toxic and voracious capitlalist spider, charged with looking for new ways to bleed us dry.
