sammynb 3355
Getting back on topic, who do you think/hope England will get drawn against for the group stages? I would love it if it was: England France New Zealand Honduras But whatever the pools are, it shouldn't be massively hard being as we'll be fairly high-seeded. Of course you would! One nation fucks sheep, the other has a population of 8 million that a third live on less than $2US a day, which means France can cheat and England can bumble their way into the round of 32. Should be a great world cup that To be honest, I just want to get a chance to play France. Just so we can wipe the floor with them and contribute to the sacking of the moronic cunt that is Raymond Domenech. Fair call but after France's qualifying and recent results they should be a third seeded nation. They will go in the second pot but we all know it is wrong. Guest Stevie
Cricket, Rugby (Both codes) and Ozzie rules will be the most watched over football man. No, see you are so fucking wrong. Football actually is the biggest sport in this god forsaken sporting hole. All the others have free to air tv deals, football doesn't but there are over 400,000 registered footballers in Australia, the other sorts don't even come close. And it's the only sport not subsidised by either the sporting body or government so fees are twice the price of other codes. By the way, the last world cup, which was at fuck off 3 and 5 o'clock in the morning kickoff times, actually rated higher than the grand finals of both the league and aerial ping pong grand finals for the same year. Don't believe the mainstream Australian media, their vested interest is in all other sports. Why lie? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Austr...atings_for_2006 No lie Stevie, as I said: Don't believe the mainstream Australian media, their vested interest is in all other sports. So you're saying they're making the stats up? No one cares about football in your desert wasteland, I don't know why you find it hard to come to terms with. Football in Australia is about as popular as Baseball here, and that Italy game would've been watched by economic refugee Italians who now reside in your CUNTtry. Happy Face 29
England have dropped two places in the latest world rankings issued by FIFA. Fabio Capello's men lost recently in Ukraine, and in a friendly against Brazil, and now sit ninth in the table. France, still embroiled in the controversy resulting from their World Cup qualifying play-off victory over the Republic of Ireland, have climbed to seventh, whilst their beaten opponents drop to 36th. Spain top the table, with Brazil in second. Portugal are now fifth after their victory in Bosnia, which secured their own passage to South Africa. Scotland have managed to cling onto 46th place despite their recent turmoil. Northern Ireland have dropped nine places to 39 while Wales, who hammered the Scots in Cardiff last weekend, are down in 79th. Four teams who have qualified for the World Cup - North Korea, South Korea, New Zealand and South Africa - are not in the top 50. FIFA have also revealed that the rankings will not be used to determine seedings for the World Cup as they have been distorted by the recent play-offs. "The detailed criteria to determine the seeded teams for the Final Draw for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa will be confirmed at the next meeting of the Organising Committee for the FIFA World Cup in Cape Town on 2 December 2009 (and announced at a press conference following the meeting)," a statement on the organisations's official website said. "If the criteria to determine the seeded teams were to include, as in the past, the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, then it would be the October 2009 edition of this ranking which would be considered, and this for sporting reasons. "In fact, using the November 2009 edition would create an uneven situation, specifically for the European Zone, where the play-offs involving the eight best runners-up led to an imbalance in the number of qualification matches played between the teams." 1 Spain 1622 1 -7 2 Brazil 1592 -1 -40 3 Netherlands 1279 0 -61 4 Italy 1215 0 0 5 Portugal 1181 5 139 6 Germany 1170 -1 9 7 France 1122 2 73 8 Argentina 1085 -2 -18 9 England 1063 -2 -38 10 Croatia 1050 -2 -37 11 Cameroon 1035 3 86 12 Greece 1028 4 107 13 Russia 1019 -1 37 14 USA 980 -3 -45 15 Mexico 931 3 27 16 Côte d'Ivoire 927 3 24 17 Chile 926 0 17 18 Switzerland 924 -5 -37 19 Uruguay 901 6 63 20 Serbia 900 0 8 21 Australia 863 3 15 22 Nigeria 848 10 85 23 Czech Republic 843 -8 -85 24 Ukraine 842 -2 -15 25 Israel 837 1 0 26 Denmark 835 1 5 27 Bulgaria 827 -4 -27 28 Algeria 823 1 42 29 Egypt 820 -1 22 30 Paraguay 816 -9 -63 31 Norway 780 6 29 32 Romania 763 4 11 33 Slovenia 756 16 93 34 Slovakia 755 -1 -3 35 Ecuador 750 9 53 36 Republic of Ireland 746 -2 -9 37 Ghana 739 1 -7 38 Honduras 738 -3 -16 39 Northern Ireland 737 -9 -38 40 Colombia 736 -10 -39 41 Turkey 729 -2 -8 42 Sweden 727 -1 -1 43 Japan 709 -3 -26 44 Costa Rica 694 -1 -13 45 Latvia 670 2 -13 46 Scotland 665 0 -22 47 Mali 662 4 30 48 Gabon 660 -3 -31 49 Burkina Faso 650 6 34 50 Venezuela 646 1 14 http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/ranking/...ullranking.html
Guest alex
The Elo ratings are a bit nearer the mark imo http://www.eloratings.net/world.html They're based on the system used for rating chess (yes Chess!) grandmasters. Have you ever been to Australia? No So you really have no idea what you're talking about then, do you? I've spoken with hundreds of Australians ex colleagues, colleagues now, acquaitances, family who live there, football will always be at the very best the fourth best sport in that country, I've also read a lot about the country, so yes, yes I do know what I'm talking about. You were nearly right before when you mentioned the ethnic population (Croats, Greeks, Italians, Turks), that's where your football support is in Australia. Which books have you read about Australia? Books, what you on about books for? There are various information sources you can read other than "books" you know. All of the reading you do is it all books? Like what? You said you'd read a lot about Australia, so give me some examples. I'm not giving you examples, my vast array of knowledge isn't purely down to reading although that is of benefit, actually having proper communication with people over years, taking in things you've read, seen on television, debating with people, it's how your opinions are formed. Me saying football in Australia doesn't come anywhere near the major sports there isn't an opinion it's a fact, and only an idiot would debate it.
