.....Most guitars up to £600-700 will have pao ferra or Indian Laurel.

Which, in a recent bout of snobbishness, I have decided i absolutely can’t stand.

Glad to hear rosewood might be back on the menu but the only real difference I've ever noticed between rosewood and pau ferro is looks. Just dim the lights man, they all look the same in the dark.

I have a Fender Mustang Bass with a pau ferra board and when I get close to it, it disgusts me.

Was an internet order, possibly when mortal so didn’t check to see it wasn’t rosewood. 🙃

Get yourself some of that Monty's relic wax. Apparently it properly darkens the laurel/pau ferro boards up so they look like rosewood.

I'm with Andrew here. I'll take stable and functional over pretty and high maintenance anyday.

I love a nice rosewood board with a interesting grain bit probably only for the same reasons people find themselves fascinated with artexed ceilings after too many mushrooms.

I do love an old maple neck mind, some age beautifully. I’ve got an 06’ strat and it only ever seems to get better.

In for a fret dress/crown in a few weeks for the first time….ever. So I’m expecting further improvement still.

Also I’m going to set the trem system up again after rendering it hardtail for a while B)

At some point during this production meeting a brave person has to stand up and just say “haha this is wank, let’s leave it & go to the pub”

I honestly reckon Vai became in on the joke a few years back and now just does shit like this and the one handed song after his surgery for fun.

The long sweeping shot of "dragonizer...climax regulator...ethernet out" actually did make me laugh tbf.

Had a proper look at this and fuck me the results look incredible and may have saved my materialism/aesthetically minded self some dollar!

Just found out the Fuzz Factory 7 works as an Octaver.

This is like when I figured out the heated mirrors on the car. Having owned the car from new for 3 years :)

I have.

Direct experience in fact, one of the best guitars I ever owned was a Mexican telecaster which I regret selling every single day.

Depends on the age of it but they’re generally very good guitars, you’ll get a lot out of it. You could drop it off a building, set fire to it, smash it through a coffee shop window and it’d probably still be in tune.

If the price is right, buy it,

Yeh they can be incredible if you get the right one. The “money scale” for guitars doesn’t actually translate into a decent playable guitar.

Best guitar I ever played was a Squier 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve heard the same from a few people tbh. There’s a bloke who, sadly, isn’t on FB any more but could take any old shitty arsed guitar and get it at full potential by sorting the action and all the rest of it and my mate took him a Squier and he used it as a gigging guitar over his SG and his Tele. Used to get an incredible blues sound out of it

My sister has a Squier Vista from the 90s and I’ve never played a better neck. It’s mad how it works.

I’d go for that tele and if it’s not great you’ll easily make your money back

Yeh I’ve been sorely tempted. There’s a canny import fee and that’s what’s put me off.

If you're talking about the Harley Bentons from Thomann, this might help, from the Thomann website:
