OMFG

My view is he should be allowed to come here because he's gained far more publicity with the attempts to stop him and that cleric Ken Livingstone was all over like a rash was allowed in the country, for example. I don't think the House of Lords should be the sort of place showing his (what I assume to be) propaganda however (I know it isn't on this occasion).

I don't think he was getting a screening room indoors or owt.

He was just gonna project it on a wall, or play it on his iphone.

Surely

Seems so...

Wilders is in the UK to thank his lawyers and to meet Lord Pearson, the Ukip member of the House of Lords who originally invited him to screen the 17-minute Fitna.

If i was in the lords I'd put on a screening of Up in the room next door at the same time.

Many people see him as a comedy figure,a Dutch version of Boris Johnson, but if the polls are right he's going to be leader of the biggest party in parliament after the next elections. He can be very intelligent and persuasive but then comes out with loony policies such as a tax on headscarves.Don't give the guy the publicity and he'll fade away.

Although not to be dismissed The Netherlands has such a convoluted multi party system of government he wont be able to pass anything mental.

The Govt was always going to struggle with Wilders- they are used to views against the impact of Islam eminating in the form of a rant from the Griffin's National Front in Suits.

Let him speak then agree or disagree with him. One of the reasons our extreme political groups have gained such ground in recent years is that we are shit scared of having a calm and reasonable debate about what issues of race and religion mean for our society and how we can ensure that personal freedoms are maintained- including the right to a faith.

They are letting the Pope in next year so I don't see the grounds for banning this bloke.

I suppose they used the fear of violence to avoid free speech issues which they wouldn't have been able to use for the Pope but I find some of the views of both of them equally offensive - and would let them both in to encourage debate (minus the reverence to the latter).
