Guest Sima
Surprised there isn't a thread for this, ah well, current scorecard Pakistan 1st innings R B 4 6 Shoaib Malik lbw b Flintoff 39 71 5 0 Salman Butt c Jones b Udal 74 183 11 0 Younis Khan lbw b Harmison 39 106 5 0 Mohammad Yousuf b Flintoff 5 7 1 0 *Inzamam-ul-Haq not out 17 29 1 1 Hasan Raza b Harmison 0 4 0 0 +Kamran Akmal not out 3 9 0 0 Extras (lb 4, nb 10) 14 Total (5 wickets, 66.3 overs) 191 To Bat: Shabbir Ahmed, Danish Kaneria, Mohammad Sami, Shoaib Akhtar. Bowling O M R W Hoggard 13 2 41 0 (3nb) Harmison 13 5 19 2 Flintoff 15 4 44 2 (7nb) Collingwood 4 1 15 0 Giles 9 1 33 0 Udal 12.3 2 35 1 England team: *ME Trescothick, AJ Strauss, IR Bell, KP Pietersen, PD Collingwood, A Flintoff, +GO Jones, AF Giles, SD Udal, MJ Hoggard, SJ Harmison. Pakistan looking pretty good until about 15 minutes ago when Harmison took 2 wickets in 1 over. If Inzamam goes out soon they're screwed.
TheInspiration 1
They were 161-1... so I'd say a good recovery.
Guest Sima
Akmal gone c Trescothick b Hoggard 28 Pakistan now 238-6. That changes the game a hell of a lot, Pakistan would have been hoping to not lose a wicket before stumps. England can avoid Inzi and work around the tail now. Papa Lazaru 0
Not a bad start, it can still go either way of course, blast through them cheaply tomorrow, or they stick in and build a good score. Plus you need both teams to have an innings to see where the game is going. Good to see Harmy and Freddie straight back into the swing of things, but the real test will be the batsmen after the warm up games. A few in need of runs and obviously there is Ian Bell who knows he was dropped until the injury. Does it affect his confidence or does it make him go for it to prove the slectors wrong? Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
Bell was the weakest link in the summer to my mind. Hope he can build on a second chance.
TheInspiration 1
I'm still not convinced with the selection of Udal. Many others watching the game would be a little confused there's a 36 year-old making his test debut.
Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
Pakistan all out for 274 (Flintoff 4/68, Harmi 3/37) England 253 for 3 (Trescothick 135n.o, Bell 71)
Tooj 17
good start by England, 450 at least is a must on this batting friendly wicket
Papa Lazaru 0
Good days work from England, just a shame that they lost that last wicket and ended up with a night watchman up the order. Got to be looking for a 400+ score to really put the pressure on Pakistan and the game is there for the taking. Good to see the seam attack still proving very effective together for England.
