Forums are all about people disagreeing and agreeing, same as if you chat to someone in a pub, at work, or anywhere. What would you ban people for ? Genuine threats of violence. Comments about someones wife, girlfriend, daughter. Other things possibly, based on an objection raised by the target of the comment bearing in mind that some people will object or whine on about anything. Basically I think the people who whine on saying someone should be banned are the ones who should be banned. Do this and you are on your way to having an adult site for adults. Just my pennysworth. Guest Stevie
See when I signed up for Newcastle Online, I think it was about 2005, and I didn't even know about this board. It was more often than that not very staid, very dour, general chat could occasionally bring up something interesting, but maybe 10% of the main forum were match going and from round here. I wouldn't go back to Newcastle-Online, I'd probably read it now and again to laugh at people but I think the average age over there is what 19-21? When I was banned for telling people out their "HIDDEN FORUM", there's actually no decent toon forums other than here, so I stayed here. So in effect bar one or two OOT's that limited me to 10% of people on N-O, where I would actually take an interest in what they had to say. That sounds arrogant but that's honestly how I felt. If you're on the drink and someone clueless you don't know starts telling you things they've seen second hand and you've seen first you just think aye do one pal. Good luck to them though, someone like Dave who no doubt had a big part in getting me banned, if I ever seen him I'd shake his hand and say good lad. However, even Alex agreed that they have a low amount of match goers on there, and luckily on here most people actually get to 5 games plus a season. It's nice going to a match thread knowing it's not going to be polluted with people from Malaysia, Iraq and Scotland who have watched it on a dodgy stream. I don't think there's anymore we can say about that website that hasn't already been said. If you're banned that's life, it's no great loss, they're not going to justify why people are banned, they don't have to it's the fucking internet. Like here Craig would love to ban me, I think the blokes a total fuckin bell end, but ye naa, you can't like everyone, not everyone are going to have the same tolerances, humour, integrity and honesty, and if he were to ban me I'd accept it, it's no great loss like I said it's the internet full of faceless wonders who often portray themselves as differently to how they are in real life. Craig 6700
I agree with you LM, forums are all about discussions which consistute agreements and disagreements so banning people should be kept to an absolute minimum. We do ban on here but only in VERY extreme circumstances - it'll back on the back of a comment that drag the forum (and the people running it) through the shit. And it'll be after warnings had been given. Threats of violence could be included, especially if it concludes with actual violence. Sounds a bit serious but we do hold a degree of social responsibility. As for comments about wives, girlfriends, siblings - it'd have to be extreme. What I can't get my head around is a 'forum of the banned' and I never have done. Why the need to advertise that you've banned someone? On the contrary, it's something I don't really want publicised as it draws the wrong attention, people deviate from what the main purpose of the forum is and you end up with a reputation for it. Wacky, the point of my comment was that I've been banned on a forum before which absolutely pissed me off. But when I sat back and thought about it I realised I was more pissed off that someone had had the fucking nerve to ban me rather than the fact I was missing out on not being there. Once I'd realised that I moved on from it. Stevie - you are aware that I (and Scottish Mag, Jimbo & Peasepud) all came from N-O aren't you? I'm glad you find this place 'great' but let's get one thing straight, no one person makes this place great - not Wacky, not Leazes, not Alex, not me, not Peasepud and certainly not you. What makes a forum 'great' is the craic and that can only be achieved by a collective group. Some people call us cliquey - I couldn't care less, I enjoy this place, the laughter, the piss-takes, the blind optimism, the stamp your feet attitude, basically the craic. If it's cliquey, so be it. I post here because I enjoy it and the minute I don't, I'll stop taking part

Gejon 2
I think the house of the banned was originally set up because whenever someone got banned there were numerous threads started saying "why has xxx been banned, thats well gay, you are all Nazis! etc etc..." so it was easier just to have a forum (usually with links) so people knew. I may be wrong though.

The newer posters did bring a new angle to the place and we are much better for it - but it's the interactions they're having with the people who've been here from day one that completes that surely? In addition there's a good deal of good members who've left this place and we're poorer because of it.

I couldn't care if you do mate - opinions are like an arsehole, everyone's got one and they're all different. The massive irony is about you thinking I'd love to ban you though... No I said you're a bell end purely and simply because you never fail to come across as arrogant as fuck and the last few months, depressive. Don't worry I'm patently aware the feeling is mutual, I don't care and neither do you. I know you said you've had a few problems, who doesn't have problems, but when your problems are so bad you abuse people like Bev, and then divulge in to a scouse like victim state, while calling me the biggest prick you've ever known, I think it's time for a break. So that's why I said you're a bell end. With regards these posters who have went missing, how much do you think that's down to the "inane boring pricks who pollute every thread"? Because just my opinion like whoever they are have been replaced for the better, people like Howmanheyman, who younger posters like me can learn things about the late 70s and early 80s. No doubt you'd disagree. Regardless I hope your problems have sorted themselves out.
