Renton 21626 Posted October 7, 2009 Share Posted October 7, 2009 I agree with you LM, forums are all about discussions which consistute agreements and disagreements so banning people should be kept to an absolute minimum. We do ban on here but only in VERY extreme circumstances - it'll back on the back of a comment that drag the forum (and the people running it) through the shit. And it'll be after warnings had been given. Threats of violence could be included, especially if it concludes with actual violence. Sounds a bit serious but we do hold a degree of social responsibility. As for comments about wives, girlfriends, siblings - it'd have to be extreme. What I can't get my head around is a 'forum of the banned' and I never have done. Why the need to advertise that you've banned someone? On the contrary, it's something I don't really want publicised as it draws the wrong attention, people deviate from what the main purpose of the forum is and you end up with a reputation for it. Wacky, the point of my comment was that I've been banned on a forum before which absolutely pissed me off. But when I sat back and thought about it I realised I was more pissed off that someone had had the fucking nerve to ban me rather than the fact I was missing out on not being there. Once I'd realised that I moved on from it. Stevie - you are aware that I (and Scottish Mag, Jimbo & Peasepud) all came from N-O aren't you? I'm glad you find this place 'great' but let's get one thing straight, no one person makes this place great - not Wacky, not Leazes, not Alex, not me, not Peasepud and certainly not you. What makes a forum 'great' is the craic and that can only be achieved by a collective group. Some people call us cliquey - I couldn't care less, I enjoy this place, the laughter, the piss-takes, the blind optimism, the stamp your feet attitude, basically the craic. If it's cliquey, so be it. I post here because I enjoy it and the minute I don't, I'll stop taking part Ahem.....*taps foot, with arms folded, expectantly* I used to love that yank bloke who came on in rubbish threads with "hey, what's going on in this thread guys" or some such. Other than that all I posted was opinion. If that is worth a banning then it's probably worse than the 'abuse' bannings for swearing at somebody on NO. Abolsutely terrific stuff, Tom.
